You know my answer. But it is also borne out by numbers. Even if Trout had produced a "sub-par" (for him 8 WAR season, and Rendon a measly 4 WAR, that's about 10 wins added. 87-75, rather than 77-85. And if both had been vintage, we're looking at 90 wins.
Not to mention other factors.
Did the players who replaced Trout and Rendon produce any WAR? I actually don't know the answer.
If they did produce positive WAR, wouldn't that have to be subtracted from your imaginary equation?

Yes, assuming it is easy to sweep a team is ignorant. It just is.
Using Fan Since 79's stat about the Angels being 27-46 against the AL west this year, I did a back of the napkin calculation of a Mariners sweep at 25.021%. I understand that there are a lot more factors that go into that number.

I'm rooting for the Mariners over the Red Sox every day of the week.

I will always root for a Mariners team over the Red Sox.
If it means the Mariners sweep the Angels, I will root for a sweep, over the Red Sox getting in the playoffs.
I could not give two shits about Dipoto.

Remember, Arte is a real estate developer. The pitching and hitting thing is a side gig.

We wouldn't be in six teams' "home markets" anymore.
Of all the stupid things major league baseball does, this "adopted home team" crap they do in some markets is among the worst.

Without the incredibly long absence of Trout and the Rendon injury, along with our hitters falling off the cliff in August/September, and with some better pitching and defense, we would probably be in the postseason. This team, when you look at it objectively, is not all that bad.
We must cut down on the injuries next year. That's priority #1.
Stay healthy
Hit well for the entire season
Pitch better
Play defense better
Anything else?

He gone
When angels management talks about a player's injury, they are always wrong.
If Maddon says water is wet, I'm not sure I'd believe him.

I'm still upset with Arte for meddling in the Trout and Ohtani negotiations.
The team sucks.

and will certainly be at a disadvantage compared to Arte.
If the new owner hires competent management, and manages to keep his/her nose out of personnel decisions, the new owner would have a tremendous advantage over Arte.

This is a frigging mess.
The most (seemingly) obvious solution is to throw money at big name FAs.
Our track record doing this has been less than stellar.

He hasn't seen Trout or his medical files, he's just talking generally.
The Angels medical staff sees the Angels players and they get timelines wrong practically every time.

He hasn't been in Pittsburgh in 50 years.
When I think of Roberto Clemente, definitely a bunch of Primanti-eating Yinzers is what comes to mind.

Oh for pete's sake.

haha, I hadn't even noticed. THE WHOLE CITY IS UPSIDE DOWN.
Clemente played most of his career at Forbes Field.

How do you see someone "not pitch?"
Easy. I've seen Trout not play for months.

I see lots of posters dismissing this as just another meaningless day, but for those doing the dismissing, have the courtesy to at least read a little about his life before summarily dismissing the man.
I know exactly who Roberto Clemente was, and what an exemplary life he led. I'm just against more and more "days" but that's just me. By all means, have at it.

August 24 was celebrated as Kobe Bryant day this year, being that he wore both 8 and 24. I don't really remember this happening before.
Then you haven't been paying attention.
There's the day he was born. 8/24. The day he died.
I don't think there is a day to commemorate the events in Colorada.

Holy Hell, Trevor Bauer 2.0!

What if you told someone in April that Trevor Bauer wouldn't be on the Dodgers postseason roster, but Albert Pujols would be?
