  1. But at least Trout got another hit. Took a good throw from Souza to get him even while playing shallow. Dude has always been great. In May, he is getting on base at 50% clip in over 70 plate appearances.
  2. At least Trout is playing, so worth watching. Looks like Kole (Cold) Calhoun is back in the lineup. Name should be Cold Calhoun until he starts hitting again.
  3. Angels wasted Weaver's prime years as well. 2010-2013 was when he was a great pitcher but the team did not qualified for the postseason in any of those seasons. One of the most underrated pitchers of his generation, in my opinion. But he was done after 2015. 4.60 ERA in a pitchers' park and getting older is a bad sign for any pitcher over 30 years of age.
  4. Kole should chance his name to Cold Calhoun with the way he has swung the bat this season. Probably the most disappointing Angel this season.
  5. Matt Joyce hitting poorly so far with the A's after rebounding last year with the Pirates.
  6. If the Angels win at least 85 games or make the postseason, Trout gets 90% of the credit if no one else is hitting in the lineup and the pitching stays where they are in terms of rankings by WAR, as Dochalo posted. Heck, right now, you can give Trout 90% of the credit for the Angels being 25-23. If by the end of the year, if a couple of guys in the lineup ends the year with good overall numbers, the percent of credit for Trout goes down from me. Everyone has been either decent or horrible outside of Trout and the pitching isn't exactly lighting the world on fire either.
  7. Already has hit into 4 double plays this year after hitting just 5 all of last year and it is only 40 games that he has played so far this year. What an aberration. LMFAO
  8. No surprise. Harper hasn't exactly light the world on fire in May outside of 2015. It was during this point last year that he started sucking. What excuses are people going to make for him this time? He's got good protection in the lineup while Trout has nobody right now.
  9. FIP is an interesting stat to look at as well. But his FIP last year wasn't good either.
  10. Is it just me or does it feel like offense has declined again this year after teams were hitting at a better clip for the past couple of years? Three years ago, offensive numbers around the league were at its lowest that it has ever been in quite some. There are a ton of starting pitchers with ERAs under 3.00. The AL has a lot of them right now and it is a tougher league to pitch in because of the DH.
  11. Pretty bad at a .342 slugging percentage and OBP is not good either at .300. Basically, almost getting Andrelton Simmons' like production with the bat at first base. Nothing against Simmons because he's probably the best defensive SS I have ever seen but getting his production at first base with the bat is pretty bad.
  12. Based on just 3 starts this year, though? Way too small of a sample size to judge a pitcher and you know that. Clevinger didn't do so hot last year so I doubt you were calling him dumb for making this trade.
  13. Should have done that after 2015. Throws nothing but BP pitches these days and the results show that in his ERA. I actually thought he was going to do slightly better with the Padres this year than he did last year with the Angels since there's no DH in the NL.
  14. Weaver Feaver has had a tremendous career but he should have called it a career after the 2015 season. ERA was close to 5.00 that year. All he does these days is throw BP pitches. What a great run he had with the Angels though, especially from 2010-2013. If he finishes with an ERA of 5.07 or higher, this would mark the 6 straight year his ERA has increased.
  15. Angels wasting Trout's greatness. If no one gets hot with the bat, this will be another long season again.
  16. A .247/.293/.370 slash line is horrible. Doesn't matter how many RBIs you have. It's kind of like saying a pitcher has like 16 wins but with an ERA close to 5.00. Come on, man.
  17. That IS true but RBIs are overrated. Just because someone has a lot of RBIs, does not mean he's having a good year. Pujols will heat up though since he's usually been a slow starter with the Angels.
  18. The great Kevin Garnett once said," Anything is possible." That was after the Celtics defeated the Lakers in the NBA Finals in '08. And why not? No one expected Alex Meyer to outduel a great pitcher like Verlander last Sunday.
  19. Looking at the lineup, you wonder why teams don't walk Trout more often. No disrespect to them but Calhoun, Maybin, Cron, and Pujols have all been letdowns so far this year after all had good 2016 seasons with the bat.
  20. I'm pretty sure (about 99.99%) that the last 2 games inflated that OBP big time. Edit: Yup, before these last 2 games, Maybin's OBP for the month of May was just .315. Below average.
  21. I guess he should thank Trout for his success at the plate lately. Doubt he would be hitting well the last few games if Trout wasn't batting behind him.
  22. Trout has an OPS over 1.300 this month and a BABIP under .150. Funny as hell!
  23. Looks like one of the Angels broadcasters jinxed Swarzak when he said Trout was 0 for 6 against Swarzak. Whoops!
  24. Trout is so great that he is keeping the Angels and their season alive despite not having any help at all in the lineup and the pitching isn't that much better.
