May I introduce you to the Oakland A's.

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to kevinb in Hamilton placed on unconditional release waivers.
Unless baseball wakes up and stops guaranteed contracts this stuff will continue to happen. After the age of 30 I wouldn't touch a free agent with more than a 3 year deal

Admitted to using cocaine. By admitting he would test positive for illegal drugs, he didn't get suspended and found a flaw in MLBs testing program.

I'd rather have this team the mediocre. Give me a good team or give me just awful.

Not sure about civil war but Hollande is as good as gone. Le Pen will be elected, France will leave the EU, and "refugees" are going to be kicked out of the country. It's only a matter of time now.

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Second Base in Scrap for Parts, a How-To on Rebuilding the Angels
This article seems like it was written by someone with a very loose understanding on what constitutes a free agent and even less understanding for that matter who the Angels actually are.

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Oz27 in Should Garrett Richards be a Closer versus a Starter
No.
Pitchers who are good enough to start should start. The value of a starter is much higher than the value of a reliever.

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to Lou in Justice department says it will end private prisons
did you guys read the article?
"While experts said the directive is significant, privately run federal prisons house only a fraction of the overall population of inmates. The vast majority of the incarcerated in America are housed in state prisons — rather than federal ones — and Yates’ memo does not apply to any of those, even the ones that are privately run. Nor does it apply to Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Marshals Service detainees, who are technically in the federal system but not under the purview of the federal Bureau of Prisons.
The directive is instead limited to the 13 privately run facilities, housing a little more than 22,000 inmates, in the federal Bureau of Prisons system. "

ScruffytheJanitor reacted to nate in Justice department says it will end private prisons
Because private prison companies made big $ off of crime so they actively lobbied for more.
-
ScruffytheJanitor reacted to nate in Justice department says it will end private prisons
But it keeps private prison companies from lobbying against bills to legalize weed. They are major contributors. They also were the driving force behind mandatory minimums.
