TroutField got a reaction from Stradling in Gameday Thread: Rangers @ Angels (5/7/23): Suarez on the mound, Rendon is back in, no Neto
It’s basically 4-0 right now, not over but the bullpen needs to keep it there.

18 runs given up over the past 5 innings, after a 5 game winning streak with two amazing late game comebacks.
why are they like this

Suarez doesnt waste a lot of time telling you when he's off. Ive said this before, maybe I just can't remember it happening, but the dude just doesn't tend to FIND his command like others can when they stumble out of the gate.

Starting pitching has become a big issue. Only two reliable arms so far this season

Hey, guys, remember when we were winning 3-0? That was kinda cool.

How did Rendon get a day off for his finger before Neto did? Lol

Tomorrow they kick the Rangers ass.

It’s ridiculous to blame the bullpen. If they would have scored 5 runs in 9 innings last night they would have won. Oh sure, blame the bullpen….

I personally would love to see the Rangers trade the farm for a bullpen. I don’t trust bullpens long term so giving up whatever talent they have to get volatile pieces would be great.

The Angels should teach these fans a lesson and trade Loup to the Rangers.

I was so confused by the calls to DFA him over one shitty game.
he’s been a pretty important part of the staff for a couple seasons now

TroutField got a reaction from Lou in Tonight’s 5/5/23 Win Poll
While that was about as ballsy as a pitching performance from Estevez as we have seen in a while, I had to to go with Wallach for the clutch hit. It was an outside pitch and just went with it and took it the other way. Could have easily been a weak ground ball had he tried to pull it, catchers have stepped up big time without O’hoppe in the mix.

I have been the biggest Barria advocate on this board. However, he appears to be at best a back end starter that goes about 5 innings. We have that already. So why change him from excelling in the in the long relief role for mediocre starter.
We appear to have that type of starting pitcher already in Suarez, Canning

Zack Greinke and Kershaw have similar Bwar. Kershaw is at 77.8 BWAR and Greinke is at 76.9. Lots of people seem to think Greinke isn't a lock for the hall of fame. They forget how good he was.

Sometimes you feel like you need to take chances on guys like loup and tepera. Some people like to talk about how you don't always need velo and you might get away with having an awesome year among a bunch of mediocre ones without it. But all the guys who end up being more consistent have at least 95+ in their tank. That obviously doesn't guarantee anything as there are a ton of guys who throw 95+ that are terrible.
How often can you look at a WAR leaderboard for relievers and pick a guy with sub 95 and see them with that consistent track record of at least very good for the better part of a 2-3 year period? It's pretty damn rare.
I guess what I'm trying to say is if I'm gonna pay for a reliever for more than one year, the velo better be there. I'm not paying for just that, but that's a minimum requirement.
Ultimately though, you can't play reliever roulette every year

One unearned run dropping is ERA to 2.21. The same guy there were cries to DFA last week.
