  1. MLBtv is being temperamental I might just give up on this game. i don't feel like being in a terrible mood for the rest of the night... this is depressing
  2. Weave's velocity improved a bit last year as the season progressed... does anyone remember where he started out? It was bad but I don't think it was as low as 84.
  3. I'd place the blame on the 2/3 of our lineup who made Vargas look like Cy Young (Iannetta and Pujols especially), the half of Hector's brain that causes him to fall apart as soon as he's ahead in the count, Fernando Salas, Bill Miller and of course Eric Hosmer's stupid face. But i'm not panicking about that game. with the pitching match up it wasn't really ever going to be a win unless our offense came out guns blazing and they haven't done that against the Royals at home in a while. At least it wasn't a 19 inning game that ended in a loss. lol yankees. Plus, hector wasn't TERRIBLE. he wasn't good, but he didn't completely fall apart.
  4. Lawrie and Hamilton look related. or at least like they have the same tattoo artist.
  5. Petco does spoil you with the beer selection. Green Flash is my jam and there are a million good places to get food. we go to a dozen padres games a year and only a couple in Anaheim because we live near downtown SD and I don't have any complaints about the Big A. I'm always just so happy to be there watching my boys in red. all I need is a few light beers (or more depending on who is pitching), and a hot dog. I'm going to be giving birth around the all star break though so my care factor is pretty low when it comes to beer this season. Frozen lemonade all the way and you can get that anywhere.
  6. my first post of the season. What happened to CJ Wilson? apparently that safari he took in the offseason helped.
  7. To defend the starter of this thread, throughout various game threads, vent threads etc, there were a variety of people yelling "get rid of aybar and/or kendrick." i have no evidence to back that up because I don't feel like combing for an hour to find the direct quotes.
  8. The roots of the word aren't offensive. the term "redskin" actually refers to the bloody trophy resulting from scalping someone... gross but not racist. White people started calling Native Americans "redskins" because they painted themselves red before attacking colonies. It didn't refer to the natural color of their skin at all. It definitely devolved into a derogatory term and white people did completely screw over a whole continent full of indigenous people so I don't think it would kill us to err on the side of sensitivity. It's the NFL though, lets just agree that the name isn't changing until it starts to affect the bottom line.
  9. The Indians logo is probably next. it's definitely more offensive than the Redskins name.
  10. Seattle turned out to BE the team in the AL West to beat (other than us). They aren't very far away from having a really solid team. So far that Cano thing has turned out well for them, which is annoying.
  11. I dont have much experience with Cardinals fans being argumentative (and my family is originally from st. louis, so i'm related to a TON of cards fans) but in the last few days they sure have been gloating a lot about Albert losing in the ALDS with the Angels while the Cardinals moved into the NLCS. Why do they care all of a sudden? If they are as happy about his decreased productivity as they seem to be then why aren't they just glad not to have anymore and leave it at that? It's not like we are rivals...
  12. just make him manager for one month out of the year... Scioscia can have the reg season.
  13. josh Hamilton shouldn't have played in Game 2 much less Game 3. I don't know whose decision it was to put him on the postseason roster (i doubt that it was 100% Scioscia) but it was a bad gamble that didn't pay off and honestly, i don't think it was fair to Josh. I don't feel sorry for him but they definitely weren't setting him up for success running him out there when he hadn't played in a month.
  14. how about 40's? Ichiro might be nosing around for a new job
  15. It's all part of our healing process. "beating a dead horse" therapy
  16. eh... yeah... it's repetitive. Just like the threads about Josh Hamilton needing to sit game 3 were repetitive and threads about moneyball get repetitive... But there isn't a lot of material to work with until the offseason starts. I mean, it's started for us but nothing huge is going to go down for a bit unless someone in the FO or a member of the coaching staff does indeed get fired. I suppose you could start a thread about DFA'ing Boesch or Buck...
  17. I don't like it when fans boo their own players. I held it against A's fans when they were booing Jim Johnson so I'm going to at least be consistent on that. That said, Josh, You don't just AUTOMATICALLY get fans for being the 2nd biggest name on the team. He didn't come up with us and he has not had even a decent season with us. I give him the benefit of the doubt a lot. I was really hoping he'd pull through because I am a romantic and I don't ever like to see someone struggle.. I'm still hoping he gets it together and not just because we are stuck with him. But what he's missing is that he hasn't earned any fans in Anaheim. They don't owe it to him to love him because he won MVPs, batting titles and all star nods. He did that for our rival team then came here and contributed to one the worst postseason showings in 2014. Not only did he contribute to the failure, he barely contributed to getting the team to the postseason in the first place. Like I said, I don't love all the vitriol from fans, but he needs to understand that we will support him and love him when he earns it. we aren't his parents- it's not unconditional from day 1. $25-$75 for a regular season ticket, $90 for a jersey, $35 for a hat, $130 for MLBtv... that's a lot of money for us commoners. but, excuse us, Josh. We're so sorry that we don't appreciate you as much as you would like. At least John Elway apologized to the fans after the Super Bowl. Take a lesson Josh. Hire a publicist.
  18. I blame Derek Jeter... they were all so sad about this being his last ALDS series that he didn't even get to play in, they just couldn't focus on anything else.
  19. um... considering during the ALDS series, our Angels' TEAM batting average was .170, I'd say Aybar's .262 career postseason (i didn't look that up, i just trusted your info) and .455 in the 2014 ALDS is pretty darn good. But by all means, let's get rid of Aybar- he's the problem with our postseason hitting.
  20. I for one wouldn't like to see our middle infielder duo broken up.
  21. I'm having a hard time taking "Team A-Rod for Hamilton" seriously...
  22. lol... he might be frustrated but i'm sure he understands why he isn't getting the start over their $125 million man who is a former MVP and postseason hero. Hell, I'M frustrated and I don't really agree with it, but I know why it's happening.
  23. i bet Josh just loves that As Seen On TV section of Bed, Bath and Beyond... He has a good chunk of money to spend
