    Rally,

You're a f***ing genius. With the elderly in dangerous situations their life expectancy drops which helps address the fiscal concerns of social security, medicare and the list goes on.  Install cameras to record these ill fated attempts and you've got the next big reality show.  I'll be writing you in on my 2016 ballot with yk as your VP.

So I'm guessing communities pay for these cluster boxes?  Anyways I'd be fine if they cut down mail to 3 days a week.  Spread it out and deliver mail Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Get rid of all the recycled junk mail and that would cut down on trips to a lot of people's houses.  No actual mail then no need to stop by and also less crap the mail person has to try and cram into boxes. Some days all I get is junk mail that goes right into the trash.  If they go with cluster boxes it's not the end of the world but obviously it's harder on the elderly and where weather is more of a factor during the winter.  Just seems like there's other places they could cut costs first but do whatever you need to do to keep afloat.

Frieri is still under club control through 2016.  He's the type of player they should be holding onto.

Catwhoshatinthehat got a reaction from St1ck in What Happened To The Price Of Baseball Cards?
When my friends and I collected cards in the 90's a lot of rookie cards of "older" (retired) players were cheaper than rookies of newer players as they weren't in as much demand.  A lot of younger fans might not remember Griffey when he was a stud.  We got out of it right when they started grading cards at which point every guy had like 15 rookie cards because there were so many sets and they were massively overpriced.  I remember reading an article some time back that compared the baseeball card grading bubble to other bubbles.

Adam - I don't even want to know.  I've got boxes of cards and a bunch that are in cases some of which I looked through when moving.  Some of those guys went on to suck while I'm sure I've got some cards just sitting in boxes with other cards that are worth quite a bit.  That said if it wasn't for all the money I spent on them as a kid I'd throw them out just to clear space.

Along with the witness who saw Martin on top of Zimmerman and one of the expert witnesses testifying that the wounds to the back of Zimmerman's head were from being slammed into the ground.  Obviously Martin can't tell his side of the story but the evidence that was available supported Zimmerman's life being in danger.

The biggest signings have been grossly underperforming and that's not the owner or GM's fault. Blanton was a flat out bad signing which you can blame the GM for but the starters being hit with injuries aren't anyone's fault.

It's 2013, he pitches for Boston and he's no longer our asshole. That said what he and the 2002 team accomplished will never be forgotten or downplayed because of what happened after that.

Crappy story.  As far as not having enough eyes on the pool that should fall on parents when we're talking about small children.  If you have a child who isn't the strongest swimmer or it's crowded and there's older/bigger kids in the water you need to watch your kid.

I just remember hearing how this was to be Obama's legacy and how adamant he was about getting it done.  It's a shame that ego trumped doing what would have been better for the country.

I hope the surprise waiting for Dwight at the Laker meeting is an empty room with a one way coach ticket on the table.

Huntington on the 4th has been pretty tame ever since they beefed up the cop presence after some guy got stabbed in the 90's under the pier.  Of course the people doing the stabbing weren't from here but there's no excuse for crap like that on what should be a day of celebration.  I'd prefer to avoid even going to the parade and just go to BBQ's and relax but the gf always wants to bike down, see the parade and deal with the sea of people.  You know you're getting old when you avoid popular places during the summer and can't wait for school to start back up.

The original knock on Miami was a lack of depth when they signed Bosh and James but they went out and added bench and role players to address their needs.  Paul, Harden and Howard could do the same thing for Houston and attract aging vets and young role players to fill needs.

DR talked about his wingman in some of his posts when going out with one of his friends.  You're trying way too hard.

Edit - might have been him being referred to as a wingman regardless it's nothing meant to direspect DR nor is it getting personal.  Everyone gets a kick out of his posts and references them on the board.

Don't disagree but your last sentence points out what others have been discussing - if the team is so many pieces away then they need to restock and possibly rebuild and you don't do that by signing high priced free agents every year.  That means you sign someone you can get on one or two year deals ala Jermoe and not a guy who will command 10M or more per year for 3+ years.

Parental rights to ensure that kids don't have the final say in whether or not they can prevent a pregnancy?  All of us here know that when you're a teenager you aren't always prepared and it's hard to check your hormones.  The reality is that plenty of unprepared people have kids, some of them are younger and many times they end up getting taxpayer money because they can't support their child.  If this reduces unwanted pregnancies for unprepared people I'm all for it.

Agreed with jshep.  I wasn't necessarily a fan of their signings (nor was I adamant they were bad) but they were both extended at reasonable prices by baseball standards while being above average at their positions.  The guys behind them were unproven and the Angels were able to lock 2 guys up during the prime of their careers at positions that are fairly weak in MLB.  These two are not the problem it's the big splashes who unless they step it up are going to hurt the team for the next so many years.  I'm not crazy about these guys and their boneheaded plays at times kill me but I can't say they're bad signings given some of the other contracts on this team.
