Arte's loyalties are to his paid personalities. Scioscia, His so called "partner" Albert Pujols, and his "Brother in Jesus" Josh Hamilton... Not the paying, long time fans.... of them team he BOUGHT from the Disney CORPORATION.

He so wanted to be liked .. he lowered BEER prices.. and that lasted for what, a year or two.. A DECADE AGO...and they are right back up in the stratosphere...15 bucks for a large Corona, which is crap beer..but people are such sheep that they STILL talk about it! ..Like it is some kind of reality.

He used to walk around the park and greet the fans. He is nowhere to be seen now.
Starting with REAGINS he has made one stupid move after another, capped off with an idiotic 10 year contract to a bad manager.
Arte has not taken this team anywhere above what Disney sold to him, yet the supposed value of the team has quadrupled..
Which is all he seems to care about.
People praise Arte like he is some kind of God.
Sorry if I don't fall down in praise of him, because other than money, I don't see where he brings all that much to the table.
You know what I see when I look at Arte Moreno?
I see a guy who put Tony Reagins in charge of a team who was up and coming and on the verge of being VERY successful.
    EPIC FAIL...
Epic enough to dig a decade hole for a team that had just come out of 4 freakin decades of fail, and was ready to emerge as a force.
Arte Moreno is no great owner.
People still love the guy...FOR WHAT??
    I don't get it.

Anyone out there who can still come up with a reason, er excuse, for Scioscia?
Fact is... there has been no reason or excuse, for a long time.
    Contract???
Arte eats contracts for lunch. Money has never stopped Arte from doing anything.
Name me one time that money has ever kept Arte from getting what he wants.
Money has never been a problem. Baseball smarts have been a problem...THE problem, aside form blind loyalty and the inability to admit that his loyalty IS A PROBLEM.
An astute business owner has to learn that loyalty can actually be a fault.
In his foray into baseball, Arte Moreno has allowed his loyalties to cloud his vision, and it has cost his FANS seasons and more seasons, of failure.
Arte owes it to his legions of fans to finally wake up...WAKE THE F UP!!!
The problem isn't so much with Scioscia, it is with Arte, who refuses to wake up from his personal dream.
    ARTE...HEY!!!
    Please Wake Up...

    Scioscia never makes bad moves.
He manages the same way he always has, the same way that won a world series, and he will tell you that.
His underlings are the hardest working people in the game.
    Just ask him.
This team is almost where it needs to be, just missing a few spots. A few flies in the ointment is his new line this year, but he only used that one once The rest of them have been the same....but that was a clever twist... for Scioscia.
He has said the same thing for over a decade, WHEN he graciously allows someone to question him.
He has BS'd his through so many baseball seasons, it is unprecedented how long he has been allowed to BS his way through.

I have been actively pointing out Scioscias deficiencies for so long, at least 5 years, that I figure people that haven't seen it yet, will NEVER allow them selves to see how bad he is.
This is nothing new. It is the never ending story X10.
    Squeaky parrot voice here..
    Who would be better?
    Cant afford it!
    Not gonna eat his money!

Scioscia has been outed as mediocre, over rated, and just plain incompetent for years.
There are only a few very vocal, smartass, and heavily invested backers in the Angels MB community that still try to defend the guy.
These people will call YOU a bad baseball fan, before they ever admit that Scioscia was DONE years ago.

For those of us that have known it for a long time, there is, SADLY, a certain amount of satisfaction watching him spiral down in flames..but it is SO SAD...
    WHY????
We love this team, we want them to win, and we knew it was not going to happen under the current regime.
WE HAVE KNOWN IT FOR YEARS, AND HAVE BEEN ATTACKED EVER TIME WE TRY TO SAY IT.
Scioscia is going to get fired, and things WILL get better, and it should have happened years ago...YEARS AGO.
Despite wailing and gnashing of teeth from his die-hard supporters....
    Things WILL get better.
Hard for me to believe that so many good fans have taken this long to grasp any reality, concerning Scioscia.
What a waste of whole baseball seasons.

I asked this same question in another thread, when people were trying to put all the blame on our 2nd year GM..
for the team's current, sorry , state.
I see him as a Shields-like 8th inning guy, who can close when needed.

The entire coaching staff should have been gone after last season..not one of them deserves to be here today.
It is a group failure, and has been.
I have to believe that deep inside, they all know that they are not good, as a group.
The fans are let down, the owner is let down, and the players themselves can't be happy to play under this failing leadership.
Scioscia has said that he is doing the same thing that he has always done..
He is stubborn and he is going to do what he thinks is right. I respect that, except for the fact that..
    It isn't working.
Hasn't worked for a long time now.
A managerial change will turn this team around.
I have never been more convinced and sure that a new direction is the only way forward.

The coaching staff should have been replaced, en mass, the day Dipoto took the GM job.
If JD had been given "THE" GM job,  and Arte had been the hands off owner that so many here mistakenly think he is, he would have shipped Scioscia and company out within hours.
The FACT is that Arte runs the team. Pujols and Hamilton would have been somewhere else if not for Arte Moreno and his "marketing"
He felt needed to compete with the marketing of the "Real" LA team.
Arte has never figured out that his team lies between LA and SD.
He lives in freakin Arizona, bought a team in Socal, and has no clue.
Scioscia, ex-Dodger, with a familiar name... give him a 10 year.
    That's the ticket.
    2009.
It has been pretty much a train wreck ever since.

The only way for Arte to untangle this mess, is to turn the team over to Dipoto.
Allow him to find his own manager and coaching staff, and build the future without interference.

Villanueva has career numbers similar to blanton
    So does Guthrie
We'll see how their numbers end up at the end of the season

Anibal Sanchez was unaffordable after Hamilton
Lohse costs a draft pick and wanted a multi year deal for his 34+ seasons with Boras as his agent and he didn't sign until spring.

Morales was traded for a guy who has equivalent value with the current numbers for this year bearing that out. (both have been pretty bad)

Bourjos and Trumbo have been the two best offensive players on this team and the offense would be even worse at this point.

Point is, any of the moves you mention were just as likely to be as much of a disaster.  Just because the pitching disaster has been coupled with bad baseball and early season losses doesn't mean they were any worse than those you mentioned over the long haul of the season.

Lifeless and apathetic.  Just going through the motions.  If it isn't obvious over the last 3+ years that nothing will change until he is gone then I don't know what would convince you.  He had a great run but should have been gone two seasons ago.

You people are too much. If a prospective manager was any good, he would be managing for someone else?
If a prospective manager has been fired from another situation. he must be awful?

So what are you people going to be happy with? The only option for you guys is finding a manager, who is managing right now, and having a great season??
Yeah, lets get one of those guys.
What you are saying is that Scioscia is fine. Well, I disagree.
With all due respect, of course.

If THIS high paid team "hovers around 500" the stadium will be empty. Heck, it is already showing large bald spots.
The general public will not pay to see this crap.
Season ticket holders already know that they are watching thousands down go down the toilet with each passing series.

The "hurried decision" was appointing Scioscia manager for life, and naming Reagins as the "in house mouthpiece" for Scioscia.
Those Reagins-Scioscia seasons have been devastating. The minors got depleted...Corbin-Skaggs would be looking good right now, but Dipoto, when with the Dbacks ...was bright enough to take them for Harden.
The Scioscia GM years, with Reagins as the front man, are costing this team dearly.
Arte Moreno has to be given the majority of the blame for the teams current state.
