Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Chuck in Angels Offseason Grade by SI
This looks like it's the case and I have to say, it pisses me off.
I doubt I end up going to spring training which for me will be the first time in 14 years. There's just no excitement or buzz that the GM and owner have created this offseason.
Isn't Arte a marketing genius? He obviously has failed heading into 2016.
That said, I'm trying to stay optimistic a trade gets done for a real outfielder before the start of the season or somehow the garbage we currently have in LF have a career year.

What kills me is that we are probably a high-end bullpen arm and legit left fielder away from being a really good team. Two positions that are so easy to fill, yet the team seemingly has little interest in doing so.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Chuck in Efren Navarro DFA to make room for Al Al
Agreed.
Though you know the offseason is shit when we're bitching about DFA'ing Efren F'n Navarro.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Chuck in .500! So excited
There's literally no excitement surrounding this team other than Mike Trout, who to me, is enough to be excited enough about going into 2016.
Whatever else happens from this point forward, whatever. We've been spoiled by Arte and Dipoto's signings/trades over the last several years. I'm confused about the direction of the team and decided it's best to quit guessing what it is to avoid frustration.
At the end of the day, we're Angels fans .... Through thick and thin.
Back in the old days we would NEVER base our fandom over who was on our roster, so it would behoove us all to appreciate what roster is going into 2016 and continue to be fans, rather than conditional fans.
/The End.

Congrats to Ducky Jr.!
Still remember his GS on August 29, 1986, like it was yesterday.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to AngelsLakersFan in And we wonder why Dipoto quit...
That's part of it. The team has a complete lack of direction. We have Eppler making win-now moves, then signing platoon outfielders while saying we're still in on big free agents. Then 15 minutes later we have Arte - on a boat - saying he's broke and it's not gonna happen.

It seems pretty clear.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Quinlanforthewin in Chris Cotillo: Angels and Padres after Daniel Nava
I do not understand the Simmons trade if we were going to be ridiculously frugal in free agency. Makes zero sense. Why not keep your top prospect if you're just assembling a team to compete for 3rd place at best.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to NrM in Angels out on big LF FA
This might be the worst organization in baseball tbh.
Mike Trout fell into their lap. The best player in ****ing baseball.
They had all the resources in the world to build a competent roster around him, and completely shit the bed.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Docwaukee in Angels out on big LF FA
the thing is that the FO and Arte actually think they have a chance. Why else would you trade a young reliever for a 33yo 3bman?
they actually think we are going to be able to compete.
That's so cute.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to bloodbrother in Angels out on big LF FA
If this is the approach they were taking, then they might as well sell off some guys to replenish the farm and then look to compete with the Astros/Rangers a year or 2 down the road

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Angel Oracle in Angels out on big LF FA
Someone needs to remind Arte that the franchise is worth $1.3 billion.
It's not time to run it like the .99 store.
-
Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Docwaukee in Angels out on big LF FA
even worse. 85-87 and 3 games back of the wild card.
75 wins would at least be cause for change.
Only 63 days till we get started on our pursuit of mediocrity while wasting another year of having the best player in baseball.

Arte has turned lame. I was a huge fan but it is time to sell the Angels to someone who wants to win and is willing to make the necessary moves.

Doug Van Oort Sr reacted to Troll Daddy in Thank You Erick Aybar
I broke the bad news to my nine year old son who loves Aybar ... told him he was traded to Atlanta. First thing he said was 'I hope they traded him for Simmons'. I was shocked he even knew who he was ... to be honest I didn't know.
GL in Altanta you'll be missed
