Revad got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Trout/Hernandez 14 Pitch Battle
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/lets-watch-felix-hernandez-and-mike-trout-face-off-forever/
Nice analysis by Jeff Sullivan of Fangraphs. It would have been more fun it Trout ends up with a hit, but still worth a look. I had the feeling Trout was just taking on the 14th pitch, but maybe it was a ball, who knows.

Revad got a reaction from Chuck in Gameday Thread: LA Dodgers vs. LA Angels (Spring Training Finale)
Health is definitely key for Albert, but I agree with Chuck he looks locked in. Seems like he tried to beat the shift a few times this week which could mean just practice or he's changed his approach a bit. Also seemed like he let a pitch he could hit go by the other day when Trout had a great jump.

Revad got a reaction from jimbo in Will Santiago Be an Ace Next Year?
There was something about his body language last night. Can't tell that well on television but I had the "fuck it lets pitch" feeling. Here's what I have see if you can hit it. When Nava was napping in the first (please let's buy Reedick) Hector seemed fine.
im sure there telling him to use his fastball almost entirely, but he is capable of throwing some nasty off-sped stuff. I'd keep Santigo, and actually extend him if possible.
An ace? Unlikely but a damn good #3 at least.

I'm big on the M word.
would you rather start from scratch or consider him expendable? I get it that's he is what he is, but I think that value is pretty high, plus I think he still has upside.

Pessimism is for whiners. Optimism is for simpletons. I just hope for a good car chase and a little boobie.

Revad reacted to Erstad Grit in Reasons for optimism in 2016
I'm pretty stoked about this team and think it's a lot better than last year.
Trout's wrist staying healthy alone is worth 2-3 wins.
Starting rotation is great and deep.
Nava will surprise us all.
Simmons is a beast.
BASEBALL TIME!

Revad got a reaction from tomsred in Silver Linings: The Offseason Edition
I'm anxious for ST to begin!
Trout and Simmons will be amazing to watch
I'm excited to see what Nava and Escobar can do- truly believe the OBP will transform the offense
Can't wait to see Weaver fired up and pitching better than last year
Anticipating Cron and Perez to open some eyes
Shoe will be great in the pen, hope that happens

Revad reacted to Angel Oracle in So what has to happen?
Good pitching depth now exists.
Richards is another year past the surgery. Maybe he returns to close to 2014 form?
Santiago now has a 180 inning season under his belt. Hopefully he can prolong 1st half success into the 2nd half of the season this time?
Wilson is healthy, albeit age 35.
Heaney pitched over 185 innings between AAA (79+ innings) and MLB (105+ innings). Hopefully he can approach 200 innings in 2016 with the Halos?
Weaver is supposedly changing up things some in the off-season. Can he gain back 3-4mph of velocity?
Shoe's splitter is not really meant to log something approaching 200 innings/season. I like sending him to the pen as the 3rd option.
Tropeano and Skaggs would both appear to need to start 2016 at AAA, and get the call up at some point based on need.
Nate Smith and DeLoach will also be at AAA, and ready if needed for a temp call up.
Pujols' power hitting was fine in 2015. The OBP was very mediocre.
Calhoun = see Pujols.
Both do field their positions well.
I hope Escobar can help to finally bring some solid OBP in front of Trout.
Still not convinced about Nava/Gentry, although Gentry is a solid back-up OF.
Simmons hopefully can grow his OBP into the .330s/.340s, and of course will save a lot of runs defensively.
It will be interesting to see how many of the peanuts acquired this off-season become clean peanuts.

Beleve he's a lefty hitter which is the side Nava excels from.

Revad got a reaction from AngelsLakersFan in Orioles have made offer to Cespedes
The fact that the offer went public and is not close to what Cepedes is asking makes me wonder if this is as much about putting pressure on Davis as it is about Cepedes. I just don't think he'll settle for that amount. Maybe teams will start offering more and we'll see some action. Maybe 6/120 or 5/110 would get his interest, doubt he'll take less than that just yet.

Revad got a reaction from 19HALO71 in How do you feel about the overall direction of the franchise?
I live in Atlanta, you all are going to love Simmons for the next five years. We have two of the best players in the game, in my opinion both the best at their positions and both entering their prime. This may not be our year but the future looks bright.

Revad reacted to tomsred in Angels, Nationals in mix for Gerardo Parra
Maybe the point is not to be done this year. Maybe the point is to be done in two years, or three years. You can't always control when opportunistic opportunities come your way. Simmons was a deal that came earlier than expected, but fit too well into that two or three year improvement window to pass up now, even if it meant that you can't finish the plan this year because of financial barriers. So you move on and try to improve the financial situation, patch up the remaining bad spots to the best of your ability, and compete to the best of your ability knowing full well that bad patches are still present. When you can't do a full rebuild (big market teams generally do not do rebuilds), and you have limited internal resources player wise and financially, this is the only alternative you have left to your disposal. Virtually every day the situation changes, players become available, players drop away or are signed elsewhere, and the cost of individual players changes due to supply and demand. It seems like things are going super slowly, but there are no game day distractions right now, meaning we are hyper-focused on assembling names on paper. I admit, it's a fun thing when so many statistical measures are available, but even that is a flawed process.
When we reach opening day this year we aren't going to be driving a brand new, high performance car. We are going to have a used one with some mechanical problems. How the problems get patched up and handled as the year progresses will determine how far across the country we can travel, and what kind of shape we are in when and if we arrive for the playoffs. Right now our left fender is missing, and rocks keep hitting the engine, so we put a cardboard fender on that is probably going to burn up. But if Mad Max can travel Fury Road maybe we can to.

Revad got a reaction from ettin in In Eppler we trust?
Do tell us what you can, Adam. My guess is he's a brown nose and talks behind people's back. He's not always respectful of subordinates and disregards their input. Plus he refused to sign any bonus checks because the team didn't make the playoffs.
Finally, he prefers El pollo Loco to Del Taco.
