This is some bad baseball. Rowen quite literally looks like a Juco level pitcher. I get he’s a major leaguer and has a weird angle, but consistent 71-72 frisbees to major league hitters is gonna get freaking rocked.

At least we got to see Trout see 4 guys in the outfield and say... no problem... I'll hit it over all of them.
    Get after 'em tomorrow Halos!

Give credit and blame where it's due.
Jared Walsh likely wouldn't be the force he is without Maddon. Shohei Ohtani wouldn't be unleashed like he had unless a manager made the exact decisions Maddon has. Maddon lobbied for Chris Rodriguez to make the Opening Day roster and he's probably their best reliever. There is no amount of maneuvering that can overcome a Jose Quintana start. He isn't specifically losing games based on his personnel decisions.
His bullpen choices leave a lot to be desired. Until Watson got hurt, he should've trusted him way more. He has the track record and recent performance you're looking for. Pitching Mayers every single day until he went on the IL is a recipe for disaster. I love the aggressive base running, but don't let them make stupid decisions in the name of pressure. Ohtani trying to stream 3B last night with Trout at the plate was completely unnecessary.
At the end of the day, the biggest job a manager has, likely occurs in the clubhouse. And as far as the clubhouse goes, there's none better than Joe Maddon.
    He's a good manager. He's NOT a miracle worker.

Hoping it’s just crazy sore and not anything structural.

Fully agreed with you on how he changes the dynamics of the lineup. Having four very legit offensive threats in a row in our lineup is huge. And the fact that it’s 50/50 L/R makes it that much better. Walsh stepping up this year takes us from being a good offense to a great offense.

Not necessarily him. But was talking to a buddy about this the other day, about how we finally have one of those guys. One of those guys who nobody has heard of that gives us star level performance, for cheap.
We finally have an oakland guy

Beyond Trout and Ohtani, Walsh has to be one of the reasons to like the Angels. Two-way player in college and in the minors, a little in the majors too. 36th round pick, figured something out with his swing upon working with Maddon. Not someone that anyone expected to be stud, but now we're starting to think he could legitimately be a .900 OPS 30 HR, good defensive 1B.
I always pictured Thaiss developing into a solid starting 1B, but Walsh has not only passed him, but has probably entrenched himself as the Angels starting 1B for the next half decade at least. Thaiss still has a future in the majors, just not with the Angels. Even when Rendon went down, they wouldn't promote Thaiss to play 3B, so his chances with the Angels may have come and gone already.
Walsh couldn't have come at a better time though. This offense is a TON better when we have two power hitting lefties batting before and after Trout/Rendon. Walsh really changes the dynamics of the offense.

Pujols is more than likely done after this year. I can't see any team realistically signing him, other than maybe the Cardinals just to have him play a final couple of games in a Cards uniform. But even then, I doubt they'd realistically keep him for a full season. It would probably be something more like what the M's did for Ichiro a couple years ago.

The minor league season hasn't started yet, so no real knowledge of what Adell is or isn't doing at this point. I think Walsh becomes the full time 1B for quite a while here starting next year thanks to AP's departure. So long term, Walsh's success shouldn't really have any impact on Adell's success or opportunities. The one Adell really has to worry about, IMO, is Marsh. I wouldn't be shocked if Marsh ends up being the better major league player out of the two of them.

Who knows if he'll keep it up on offense, but right now .300/.350/.600+ seems totally plausible with 40+HR and 100+RBI. If he does that and gets 20-ish starts in with a sub-4.00 ERA, I think he just has to win the MVP. That would be absolutely insane to see in real life, but it doesn't seem out of the question right now if he stays healthy.

Watching Shohei play day in and day out is just so much fun right now. It’s honestly comparable to the way I felt about watching Vlad.

Still think the bunt was the best play of the game.
