Das Boot is one I’ve always known of, but I’ve yet to actually take the time to watch it. But I mean everyone says it’s one of the all-time great war movies, so I’m sure I’d dig it.
Sort of sub-adjacent, but Greyhound (Tom Hanks North Atlantic WWII movie) was pretty solid too and didn’t get much attention when it came out.
I rewatched No Country for Old Men maybe like two weeks ago. Just a freaking masterpiece still. I’m usually a substance (plot, characters, writing, etc…) over style guy, and while that movie doesn’t lack there, the look and feel of that movie is just incredible.

If you havent seen this movie, make it the next one you see. Its flawless.

You’ll never convince me that this whole project hasn’t just been a slush fund for nearly 30 years. This reeks of, at the absolute best, pure incompetence. The fact that so many are still committed to a useless project seems to indicate far worse.

I took what Maddon was saying to mean that if the organization thinks doing nothing and counting on someone like Detmers to make this team a contender next year, then we’re being set up for failure. Dude might be awesome at the big league level next year, but it’s more likely he’ll be average to a bit above average. Any way it goes, it won’t be enough to make this team a contender overnight.

A month or two ago I was saying that I think the Angels could get away with acquiring only one starting pitcher, whether Stroman or even just re-signing Cobb. I'm now back up to two, mainly because of injuries to Detmers and C-Rod; at the time I was think they'd get 8-10 major league starts.
So I think for next year, I'd go with Ohtani, Sandoval and Suarez, then two veterans (including Cobb), and the rest--one spot, and fill-ins--coming from Detmers, Rodriguez, and Canning, all of whom should probably start the year in AAA until a 6th starter is needed.

I think intent matters quite a bit here. A lot of these people were civil war jerk off fantasy nutjobs that honestly believed if they could get in and stop evil Mike Pence from stealing the Presidency from Trump that Trump would applaud them, call on all other "real Americans" to take up arms against the dirty libtards, and then they'd have their fantasy war where they get to slow-mo dome tap libs while doing a badass slide across the hood of their Trans Am with a Slim Jim hanging out of their mouth. It was, of course, a dumb thing to think. There was no chance of that actually happening as a result of their actions that day. But they were there to "stop the steal" anyway. And remember, "the storm" was coming. I'm sure some people were just along for the ride/spectacle and ended up in the capitol building, but for those that really believed they were there to stop the certification of the election by force, they absolutely intended to start a coup that day. Again, it was a dumb thing to think of as possible, but that was 100% the intent.

That’s a sad one. Loved that dude as an actor. He played one of the best characters in the history of television.

There was one answer he gave to a Guantanamo question that I couldn’t believe came out of his mouth. I think it was in episode 4. I’ll have to go back and rewatch that episode so I can get the exact quote. It was fucking ridiculous. 

Fair point, but he seemed to be especially bad. Dude was trying to defend some absolutely indefensible shit in the most politician-y speak you could imagine. Admittedly not terribly different than Bush, Cheney, Obama, Biden, etc… though.

Anybody watched the Netflix doc yet? Alberto Gonzales seems like one of the slimiest dudes ever.
