When we drafted him and brought him up last year I really thought the best-case scenario comp was Sean Casey. They just seem similar in terms of swing, approach, size, etc… I still have hope that he gets there too.

I gotta ask. Does having no realistic alternative to these two over the hill has been fucktards seem even remotely like democracy to anyone?

Ha! This train was nothing but a slush fund from day 1. But feel free to shit all over private property rights if it makes you feel better.

The issue largely stems from the power we give to special interests and property owners. Every single possible route through California is going to piss someone off and trigger a lawsuit that costs millions and takes years to litigate.

The Last of Us was true to the game ending. Fallout is more made up storyline using the game as a backdrop.

Fallout has a little more of a campy tone, which matches the games. The Last of Us is much more serious.
I'd say the shows are neck and neck for storytelling. I didn't really like the ending of The Last of Us S1, but I did really like the ending of Fallout.

The FX / Hulu version of Shogun concluded this week.
I haven't read the book.  I don't remember much of the Richard Chamberlain version, which is only available on DVD currently.
This was a really good mini-series.  Excellent visuals, costumes, fight scenes, story lines.  Hulu also had a podcast for each episode featuring writers, directors, and cast, which helped to explain a lot of the historical context.

    The Three Body Problem
    It was dog shit.
Of course what would you expect when you ask Hollywood's two biggest fuck ups to adapt a chitty Chinese scifi novel. The whole thing is just amateur hour. D&D cannot write for shit, and they should really stop trying to.

I keep coming back to this thread every couple weeks hoping for more reviews and discussion. So much interesting stuff has come out in the last few months, yet I hear virtually nothing from all of you. I need you guys to get it together. K, thanks.

This is where the path to the plate rule sucks. In years past that path would and should have been blocked.

Yep, this is exactly where I'm at.  I think seeing what you have in Adell is worth more than whatever theoretical marginal prospect you might get for Hicks later in the year if he has a decent year.

Yeah, I don’t get why Hicks is getting so many ABs. Like let’s say he gets it together and has a good year by Aaron Hicks standards. What is that? A .750 OPS at the very best? I’d much rather give Adell consistent ABs and find out if he’s ever gonna be a legit major league starter.

I hope this is a sign of Detmers developing into a true front of rotation guy rather than just a couple good starts. He was great tonight. He put his fastball where he needed to and the change and curve were both fantastic. If he can do that consistently we might have something special on our hands.

I’ve seen several that seemed to be clearly overturnable on replay that ended up being upheld in years past. That one was close enough that I thought they’d side with the ump. Glad they seem to be doing a better job with their standard to overturn this year.
