I've been a member of the forum now for quite a few years now but I rarely post so might as well introduce myself as a noob. I'm from Wales (that's part of the UK for you geographically challenged yanks ) but have lived in Sweden for the last 20 years. I discovered baseball back in the late 80s when football (the American kind) became a cult sport on one of the TV channels in the UK. The same channel started showing the baseball and as a Rams fan I plumped for the Angels as they played in the same stadium. Baseball never caught on and disappeared from the airwaves as did my very basic interest. Fast forward to 2006 and I discovered that I had a satellite channel that broadcast live and recorded baseball as part of my TV package. I was hooked pretty quickly this time as there is something about the game that appeals to my psyche. I decided to stick with the Halos and here I am. It's a pain that most of the games take place in the middle of the night but most mornings I am able to catch the last few innings.

I think I'd like watching a really late night Angels game tbh but I'm a night owl by nature so....   Welcome to you and the rest of our newcomers.

Lackey needs to rein in the attitude; there's no point champing at the bit over a homerun.

I have only missed one playoff game since 2002 and that was 2014 game two against the Royals, so I won't go into playoff games or World Series games and I will share my favorite non playoff vitory or moment. I was there in 1986 when we clinched, I was there for George Brett and Rod Carew's 3000th hit, but my favorite memory was completely different. I thought about this game last night when I was at Staples watching Kobe's last game. I attended the game against the Red Sox 7 years ago this week. This was the game after Nick Adenhart passed away. We won the game 3-1 and I swear it was the most somber game I have ever been to. You weren't sure if you were allowed to cheer. The Angels were somewhat down (understandably so) most of the game. I don't have AO's memory when it comes to such things, but I believe we started playing well late in the game, may around the 7th inning and ended up winning something like 6-3. There were a lot of tears that night. I am almost positive that after the win the team, led by Weaver ran out to centerfield to "poster" of him on the wall. An amazing game. I have never been more proud of a team in my entire life.

Mate, it all depends on the type of turd. We need some visual aids.

I think we can rule out Type 7; the Angels don't have the runs.

    Howie,
Thank you for the memories. You busted your ass for the Angels and you were great with the fans. You're a class act, and even though you're going to a team I hate, I wish you the best.

I don't think the wild card team should get a free pass into the Division Series. There should be a penalty for not winning your division. However, I do think the wild card game should be a best of three series. have all three games at the stadium of the team with the better record. That way it puts more incentive on winning the first wild card spot and it cuts down on wasted days spent traveling.

I believe that losing on purpose causes more detriment to a team than the draft position they gain from it.

    - The FO needs to evaluate their players til the end so they accurately make the correct moves in the off-season.

    - Baseball is a game of learning and adjustments. The only way a player can improve is to constantly work on their craft.

    - Only a fraction of the population has the ability to play professional sports. Then add that those professionals will only play 10-15 years of their life playing at that level. So I find it wrong that a coach or organization tells them to waste that finite opportunity to throw away games.

    - MLB players made it to the pros because they are competitive by nature. I'm not even sure if a player can turn that edge off because a coach/organization tells them to.

    - Losing games on purpose devalues the roster. Not all players are playing with guaranteed contracts. They are showcasing their talent in case they are not retained by the club. You also have players in their arbitration years in which raises look at their personal stats. The team will also compromise the trade value of their players.

    - MLB needs teams to play at their fullest for the integrity of the sport. There are many teams still fighting for a playoff spot in which the Angels play part in being spoilers. I take enjoyment knowing that the Angels may play spoilers to a team I can't stand. I also don't want to see other teams mail it in when the Angels are the one's competing for a playoff berth.

I don't mind if the Angels lose because they are trying something different on the field. The team needs to find other methods to improve the team they currently have on the roster. Obviously the philosophy needs to be tweaked going into next year.

    Finally, I hate losing.
