They had their chance to gain ground before this series. 3 at home against the Twins and only won one game. That was a back breaker for them. They're not very good, and have no business being in the post season anyway.

Giolito has cost himself a ton of money the last 6 weeks. He looked like he was looking at a possible long term 9 figure deal.  Especially since there's no draft compensation in signing him. Now, he might have to sign a one year deal and hope he can pitch his way into a better deal next off-season. At least he'll be able to pitch in MLB next year, unlike Urias. That dude was definitely going to get a 9 figure deal.

This is a first. A SP complaining that he should have been taken out sooner.

As bad as this lineup was, and as bad as this bullpen is, it's a wonder they ONLY lost 6-3. This lineup looked like one of those lineups a team used to field the day after they clinched the division and there were an unlimited number of September callups. The bullpen too.

Honestly, I'm hoping that all of the negative publicity he has received lights a fire under him and he's becomes motivated to prove everyone wrong by winning Comeback Player of the Year next season. As an Angels' fan, I have to hope for the best.

GO ANGELS!!! Make it 2 straight dubs.
The beat goes on: 11 under .500; 21 games to play; 15 GB Houston; 12.5  GB Toronto.
Following the Angels all the way to the finish since February 1961.

Amazingly, Wallach has a higher OPS against LHP this season than Trout (.829 to .773) He also has more home runs and RBI's than Trout in 30 fewer at bats.

I'm in Newport Beach for a little quickie four day getaway. Going to the game tonight. Hopefully I'll have a picture of two.
I was in a sports merch store earlier and saw a few Angel display things. A bunch of Japanese tourists were buying tons of Ohtani stuff. Why oh why are Rendon jerseys on display with Trout and Ohtani? Shouldn't they be on a clearance rack? I did see a cool heavy anniversary jacket with all kinds of insignias and a 2002 patch. With Anaheim written on the back. $200 retail.
Looking forward to the stadium snacks, giveaway jersey and maybe a win.

He certainly showed the ability to not get rattled by runners on base and get himself out of trouble. He showed a lot of composure out there tonight. However, if you keep putting Major League hitters on base with no outs, most teams are eventually going to score a lot of runs. The Indians are one of the 3 worst teams hitting with RISP in MLB this season, and they put that on display tonight.

    Need better MLB scouting too.
Who gives up two top prospects for an extreme gopher ball pitcher and a decent reliever.

That's the problem. This organization has a losers mentality. It comes from the top on down. I don't see any available manager that is going to have the clout to change that. Bochy was probably the only one, and I have a feeling the only two jobs he would have come out of retirement for were the Astros, or Rangers jobs. Give Theo Epstein a blank contract to become Team President with full authority over baseball operations. I don't trust anyone else that's available to be able to deconstruct and completely rebuild this organization which is obviously what needs to be done at this point.
