  1. Jeppy has been much better this year than anyone will give him credit for. Although he has imploded twice, he has been great in his other 23 outings.
  2. At this point I'd rather see Jeppy in the game over Sally or Ernie.
  3. Yes, but if it was, it could have tied up the game or put us behind. A guy as homerun prone as Frieri shouldn't be closing.
  4. Just goes to show Ernie still shouldn't be pitching in the closer role. He is still way too hitable.
  5. Bakuaskus(?) must have exorbitant demands. Hard to believe he is still available.
  6. Rhoades seems like a great pick for the fourth round.
  7. Doesn't appear that this Ellis kid is someone to get terribly excited about, but I love to see the early emphasis on pitching.
  8. Pujols is done. As he goes, so does the team.
  9. Scotty, no way the Angles should give Cowart that much time. He is clearly a bust as a positional play. He should be on the mound in a month.
  10. Yep. I am now firmly in the "he is done" camp. Gonna be a long, long time before that contract runs.
  11. The offense has slowed dramatically the last 3-4 weeks, and the pitching has been merely average lately. The result is a highly beatable team.
  12. What is the purpose of a message board if not for topics like this? And judging by the fact that not a single poster who responded to this thread appears willing to make a trade like this, I don't think it is as one-sided as you suggest (though I actually tend to agree with you that the Padres could probably do a little better).
  13. And it would be nice if you actually read and attempted to comprehend before running your mouth. But seeing as how you shouldn't be expected to do that, here it goes: Alonso has a .719 career OPS and a .594 OPS this year. His OPS has declined three years in a row. And he is now 27. I doubt the Padres are that highly committed to him. As for Green or Calhoun, I am sure the Padres - with an MLB worst offense - would be able to find an open space.
  14. Cron and either Calhoun or Green for Ian Kennedy and Huston Street? Not saying I would (or that the Padres would), but I think it would be a trade that would help both teams quite a bit (Angels short term, Padres long term). Angels' bullpen would get a great piece, and the rotation would become a lot deeper. Leftfield could be played by Green or Calhoun (whichever one isn't traded), and DH by the Cowgill/Navarro or even Ianetta. I like what I see from Cron, but I'd have to at least consider a deal like this.
  15. Bunch of pussies. Clearly not as good of a team as the A's. No way they win the division.
  16. Pujols misses way too many pitches that a great hitter would crush. He is front of everything, suggesting to me that his body and hands have slowed considerably and he is trying to compensate accordingly.
  17. In his last three starts, Richards has a 7.98 ERA and an OPS against of .857. I know it is a relatively small sample size, but because the guy has been pretty mediocre his whole career I have some concern.
  18. Adam, much of what I do for a living is write, and I wish I could do it as well as you.
  19. Why would he ever do that? Morin threw like 11 pitches last inning - no way he can throw another inning. My guess is Sally gets the nod.
  20. Thankfully there are no blacks, Asians, Mexicans, or Dominicans in MLB, so this might just have legs to it.
  21. Sad. I think his career is probably over.
  22. It is beyond me why anyone would expend any degree of care for the plight of these assholes sentenced to death. The suffering they deal with is nothing compared to what they put their victims through. This is almost getting to be as absurd as the pit bull civil rights movement inundating Facebook.
  23. The team ERA is essentially tied with Seattle for second best in the AL, and the offense is third in the AL in runs per game. One would be hard pressed to find any team that has placed that high in both categories and not won 90+ games.
  24. I like Cron's power, but Green is really showing that he can swing the bat too. Tough call to make, if Hamilton ever actually comes back.
  25. Sounds like they really fu#$ed this one up. What would have been the harm in slowing things down by a couple of weeks? This guy is going to go down as the worst free agent bust in Angels' history.
