  1. This thread title has a special place in my heart, as I was the poster to whom "your and idiot" was directed.
  2. I am truly starting to think they say this stuff on purpose specifically to **** with us here.
  3. I am just not convinced he is perfectly healthy. I get the sense this is more of a situation where they are throwing him out there because he has reached maximum improvement, even though he doesn't look/feel as good as he should.
  4. Yes, which is why it allegedly has no money to pay for road repairs, etc. If it used the money collected from the gas tax for the roads, the roads would be sufficiently funded. By the way, off topic here but did anyone try to take the interchange from the 22 west to the 5 north this morning? Caltrans had it totally shut down, at 8:30 a.m., to perform maintenance. Only the government would be so incompetent that it would shut down a freeway interchange in the middle of rush hour, on the busiest traffic day of the week, to perform maintenance. That alone is all the proof you need that government is incompetent and needs to be reduced, not expanded.
  5. Democrats will do everything in their power to take money out of the pockets of those who work hard in order to give it to those who don't, all so that they can keep the poor down in order to tell them they are victims and to get their votes come November.
  6. Fletcher you just made my day, that is f'ing hilarious.
  7. The scariest part of this is that Scioscia believes Frieri is ready to resume closing duties. As of just ten hours ago, Frieri had either been given back the closer role (why else wasn't Joe Smith brought in there?), or was a decent appearance away from getting it back. I think I am finally in the Scioscia has to go camp. His stubbornness is costing us games we can't afford to lose, and I don't see greatness out of him in any other facets of his management.
  8. Minor setback. Other than that one mistake, the ball came out of his hand nicely. He looks ready to be given back the closer role.
  9. I love what Skaggs has done, but unfortunately I think he is going to struggle this year. For whatever reason, when he doesn't execute his pitches perfectly, he gets hit really hard (unlike Richards, who gets away with it because his stuff is so good). And he hasn't struck out many guys, leading me to question the movement on his fastball. That being said, this rotation looks solid, and that ought to be enough to keep this team competitive if the offense keeps rolling and the pen comes around.
  10. I am sure it is my imagination, but it seems when Las Diaz is the ump, lots of calls go the Angels way.
  11. It is insurance, so the cost will be commensurate with the risk. Seeing as how often pitchers go down, my guess is the risk is quite high. And seeing how the Angels organization seems to be in good financial shape, it probably makes far more sense to self-insure (ie, not purchase a policy).
  12. Great news. If Hamilton is really going to start swinging a bat this Friday, I have to believe a 3-4 week timetable is realistic.
  13. Thread fail. Sorry guys. But a couple of days ago I posted about how the bullpen needs a few fixes, and I got ripped. So I thought I would focus on the positive. Oh well.
  14. I am not saying Jeppy is the cat's meow. Or that he will continue to pitch well. But I am saying that for the last month he has been not just acceptable, but downright dominant.
  15. 9.1 innings pitched, 0 ER, 2 bb, 5 hits allowed (.152 baa), 14k. Dude has been nails since his his first outing over a month ago.
  16. This lineup has been exceptional, without Hamilton and Calhoun, and with essentially no production from Ibanez and Freese. Just imagine what it might be able to do when Hamilton and Calhoun return, Cron replaces Ibanez, and Freese starts to thaw.
  17. It is early and a small sample size of course, but so far these two have combined for a higher WAR (1.2) than Buster Posey (1.1) or Yadier Molina (1.0). Conger, in particular, has looked impressive, and makes me think he could be ready to break out in a near full time role.
  18. Oakland doesn't impress me on paper, but they just keep winning. I have no reason to believe they won't win 92+ games this year.
  19. I have been a supporter of Dipoto from the get go and was glad to see him kept on this year. I would be thrilled if he was given an extension. That being said, the bullpen is weak and he is responsible for that. What I find particularly egregious is that he has two potentially outstanding arms in the minors that are being kept down so guys like Wall and Herrera can take up roster spots. There is no excuse for that. One can both simultaneously support Dipoto and yet also be critical of him where criticism is warranted. Why does it have to be one or the other?
  20. Come on guys, you are missing the point. Nobody expects that. But some of us are frustrated that we have what appear to be much better options wasting away in the minors, while this bullpen blows up every third night. Rather than dismiss the points raised in this thread because you think they are overly critical, I'd like to hear the defense for having Herrera and Maronde on the roster over Bedeosian.
  21. Good young players can hang with the big boys. (In 2000, Albert pujols was playing in the Midwest league. In 2001, he came in fourth in MVP voting.) Bedrosian and Alvarez are destroying their competition. I dont know how anyone can really believe they aren't ready to out perform the likes of Maronde and Herrera right now.
  22. Jerry has a sports car in the garage, but he is choosing to drive the family's dying mini van. He needs to sack up and take some bold action. Honestly, can Bedrosian and Alvarez be worse than this crap? And I agree with you regarding Scioscia.
