    Someone please try to defend this deal (one of the voices of reason on here - straddling, Jeff fletcher, Angelsjunky), because I have the exact same feeling now that I did when we traded for Vernon.

    Alvarez has been ridiculous in AA this year. He could arguably out perform Street right now, and he is under control through at least 2020.

    Lindsey and Alvarez would be stupid. Heck, Alvarez alone would be stupid.

    Lindsay for Street seems fair to me. Lindsay is a good prospect, but not great, at a position where we have lots of depth. Street has a full season after this on his contract, at a reasonable price. Very fair, provided we aren't giving up more. It just stinks that we didn't just sign Street in the first place this off-season.

    We have a nine game wildcard lead. That's a lot of games. The last thing anyone needs to be thinking about is a wild card game starting pitcher. Play the games and see where things stand September 20.

    The Angels match up well against teams with weak offenses, like the Mariners. They need to try to grind down Iwakuma and Hernandez and get them out of the games after six innings.

    It's been five years since he left, and yet I still LOVE the horse jokes. They still crack me up.

    One thing that a few if the places on the list have in common - including In-N-Out, Rubio's, Chic-Fil-A, and The Habit - is great customer service. Nice employees with good personalities who are highly competent.

    I met Berman in a bar in San Diego in 2003, I think around the super bowl. He was an absolute and complete prick, and I honestly hope he has a slow heart attack and keals over. He is not a good person.

    Yep. And I think Arte and Jerry want him. I bet Jerry makes an aggressive offer for him.

    Love scioscia. What a great manager. I agree, Smith shouldn't be the closer. Why would we want someone closing games who doesn't (1) give up hits, (2) walk guys, (3) give up runs, or (4) blow leads. Scioscia should give Salas a chance to close.

    Calhounn and Skaggs should be untouchable, but not Bedrosian.

    I wouldn't move Skaggs. Although he hasn't pitched great, the 5+ years of club control and potential for more improvement make him a valuable asset. I wonder if Cron/Bedrosian/Lindsey would be enough to get a deal done for Price.

    I think we need another starting pitcher more than we need another pen arm. And I am not so sure a second tier arm like Ian Kennedy would help all that much. I bet Dipoto is actively pursuing a trade for Price, who I think would be a perfect addition. And although I'd hate to lose him, i think Cron could be the centerpiece of a deal. I just don't know that we have enough beyond Cron to make a deal work.

    For as much love as the A's get, the Angels have actually been 1.5 games better since April 18. Basically, the A's built a 4 game lead over the Angels in the first two+ weeks of the season, but in the subsequent three months the Angels have been the better team.

    White trash losers. Send them to a deserted island. And all the more reason to avoid Chuck E. Cheese. I hate that place, and so do my kids, but we have had to go there twice in the last six months for birthday parties.

    Exactly. No guarantee whatsoever that Felix throws. And frankly, I am not buying them winning a wild card berth.

    He has probably had two of his biggest five hits as an Angel in the last week. It has been awesome to see.
