  1. A lot have things are going right. Frieri for Grilli was a great move. Salas has pitched more like he did in 2011 than in 2012 and 2013. Jepsen has figured it all out. And Morin has emerged.
  2. I think Scioscia ought to carry an extra arm in the pen during this stretch, and whomever is on the bench needs to be versatile and capable of playing just about anywhere (a guy like Grant Green, for example). That means I'd leave Cron in AAA.
  3. If the season ended today, Trout should be a near unanimous selection. Despite his recent poor play, who really has better numbers that is more deserving of the award?
  4. I'd love to have Lester on our team next year and beyond, but the guy wasn't exactly great the last few years, and his numbers had all been trending down for several seasons prior to this one. I wouldn't want to see the Angels give him more than 5/100, and yet I am sure he will get closer to 7/150.
  5. 1995 all over again. We will be lucky to have an appreciable wild card lead by the end of this month.
  6. My neighbor worked with Robin on a couple films, helping to train him and kind of watch over him and keep him in line. How did Robin show his gratitude? Well not only did my neighbor get paid for his work, but Robin also insisted on paying for my neighbors' sons to go to private school. And by that I mean he paid full tuition (Friends Christian in yorba Linda - not cheap), for two kids, each and every year. That's just the kind of guy he apparently was.
  7. I wonder why Jerry didn't make a claim on him.
  8. Lol. I wonder who in Arkansas or Salt Lake received late phone calls telling them to get on the plane to Orange County.
  9. We are also a bad week away from seeing what was once a 9-game wild card lead dwindle even more (I think we have lost 2.5 or 3 wild card standing games this week alone). The team can't afford to sh&t the bed any longer and needs to pull out of this.
  10. Division hopes are probably over at this point. Better not cough up the wild card lead.
  11. You guys are d$%&s. Who cares if he/she wants to talk about the offseason? Is it not possible to both enjoy this season and also think about the future? Should the OP spend his/her entire day jerking off to the standings?
  12. The Phillies absolutely will not dump Hamels on another team. That means there is zero risk of any team placing a claim on him. Because even if that team can't work out a deal (or doesn't want to work out a deal), the Phillies aren't going to just hand him over. Not to disrespect anyone, but you guys are insane if you think the Angels won the claim on him.
  13. No way he got to the Angels. No way he even got to the Cubs, and certainly not past the Cubs.
  14. I know he is really, really young, but I wonder if he is going to be a semi-flop like Jayson Hayward.
  15. I remember when a few guys on here wanted to trade Trumbo for Klueber. I was against that, because I didn't think Kleuber had enough of a history of success, but in hindsight it would have been a fantastic trade. Question: would you rather have Kleuber, or Santiago and Skaggs?
  16. He threw a fastball to Kemp that appeared to cut out off the plate about 6 inches at the very end. And it was going 98mph.
  17. I just hope his arm doesn't fall off. I thought Scioscia took an unneccessary risk bringing him out for the eighth. I know the pen badly needs some rest, but I probably would have brought in Salas to finish the game.
  18. I had an ingrown toenail removed in high school. Lost half my toenail. Had the procedure done around 1:00 p.m., made it back to the field and suited up for the 3:15 game.
  19. If we split, we will have gone 11-9 in this brutal 20-game stretch. I'd gladly take that. If we go 3-1, it means we played .600 ball during this stretch, which is absolutely fantastic. But I am worried about the pen. Way too many innings the last two weeks. The starters need to step up big time.
  20. I had no idea Wtf a blue waffle was until reading this thread. I can now honestly say I wish I hadn't read this thread. Or googled "blue waffle."
  21. I am not scared at all. It's like bird flu, swine flu, SARS, etc....lots of scare, but probably won't amount to anything.
  22. I actually pulled my forearm really bad pitching in high school. Not sure if it was the flexor tendon, but it was not the UCL. It took a really long to heal (probably a full 30 days). I wouldn't be surprised if he was out until early September.
