  1. I wouldn't bank on Detroit taking their division. They might be our first round opponent.
  2. I am always curious to learn about people's jobs/professions. If anyone feels comfortable sharing: What do you guys/gals do for work? What do you like most about your jobs/professions? What do you like least? For you older people, what advice would you give younger workers? What would you have done differently? Do any of you wish you had taken more risk in your professions? Like maybe started your own business? Or pursued an opportunity that would have required relocation? What are the best employment related decions you have made? What are the worst? Any of you feel like you altogether chose the wrong profession? Anyone change professions in the middle of their life? If you had a spouse and kids, how did you make that happen? I'd love to hear what you all have to say.
  3. Stormn, can you do both leagues? I am curious to see these numbers regarding all of baseball.
  4. It is almost like they look for the most depraved way to hurt someone, and then find a way to make it even worse.
  5. And how did they get entry? What kind of locks do you have on your door?
  6. Tank, is there anything your landlord could have done to have prevented this from happening? By way of example, if you live in an apartment, is there a gate to the facility that may have been left open? If it happened during dark hours, were any lighting devices out of order?
  7. Some of you aren't giving longevity it's due. It is one thing to be solidly better than average for 5 or 6 years, and quite another to do so over a 20 year career. Think about how much we all respect Aybar. He has been a solid, mostly average player for six years. Lot to be said for that. Now imagine how much more you would like him if he was 30% better. And for another 14 years. And helped bring the Angels 5 rings.
  8. One of the few questions for Dipoto this off-season will be whether to tender Freese a contract. I think it is a hard call. Freese has been decent offensively, but I have to wonder if Green coukd come close to replicating his numbers. And the Angels will need the cap room if they are going to pursue Shields.
  9. Actually, I appear to be wrong....didn't realize how good Mantle's numbers were.
  10. I wouldn't put Mantle above him. Mantle may have had more raw talent, but his career wasn't as long, which I think counts for a lot.
  11. I totally forgot about Rasmus. Yeah, lots of bullpen depth.
  12. All the more reason why the Angels might be able to spend on a guy like Lester or Shields. There are almost no holes to fill on next year's team.
  13. He has legit stuff it seems, and I am sure the team plans on him assuming a spot in next year's pen. With Street, Smith, Jeppy, Morin, Salas and Pestano in the fold (not to mention possibly Bedrosian and Gott), next year's pen is just about set.
  14. I am fiscally conservative. And if I controlled the budget, the military is the first thing I would look to cut.
  15. If Idaho is drowning and I can use some of their water so my lawn doesn't die, don't we both win?
  16. Yep. Ten years after the fact, nobody remembers 100-loss seasons or ALDS appearances. But they still remember championships.
  17. Not impossible. If Baltimore takes the best record, they face the wild card winner in the first round and we face the winner of the AL Central. If Oakland were to win the wild card then beat Baltimore, and we were to beat the Central winner in the ALDS, we would play Oakland in the ALCS.
  18. Yep. I don't care if we lose 100 games the next three years if it means a world series title this year.
  19. Hamilton isn't going anywhere. Owed tons of money, not terribly old, and for as much as he has disappointed, he is still a league-average outfielder.
  20. Environmentalists are basically domestic terrorists. Almost as bad as union folk.
