Cespedes has proven he can hit in bad parks, like Oakland and Citi Field. I think he definitely falls off in a minimum of 3 years though. Hes already shown signs of breaking down. But given how little success we have had in the last 5 years, ill take anything. I dont think this organization will ever make smart decisions so my hope is we can put just enough talent around Trout to get in and get lucky in October.

Perez hit .300 in September. I think he could have a pretty decent season.

If were going all in on defense why not put CowaKubi at 3rd and let Escobar take 2nd. So far the Angels front office has said Escobar will take 3rd, meaning Gia at 2nd. That means two below average defenders on the infield. With the CowaKubi method you get great d at 3rd and decent d at 2nd.

I dont think he really cares to be honest.  He was pretty good friends with Aybar if I recall, and im not sure he thinks a defensive specialist coming in is going to change all that much, especially when Aybar was pretty good himself defensively.
Had we gotten a guy who could get on base for him, im sure he would have been happy.  As of right now, offensively we are 100 % reliant on Trout putting up Ruthian numbers.  If he puts up anything short of Ruth numbers, this team has 0 chance of making the playoffs.   Do you think hes happy about that?

Not to mention, they dont have a retarded baserunning philosophy. I still remember Cowgill thrown out at 3rd and Sosh after the game saying "well i was hoping he would go." Stuff like that can cost you in the playoffs, when you lose 1 run games.

Hopefully he continues to look for good OBP players and goes after Upton.  Its the smart thing to do and I think Upton will be the best value of this free agency.

The Simmons deal will turn out to be better than most people expect.  Aybar is already starting to decline and SS would be a huge upgrade that needed to be made later on.  I like the fact that Eppler is thinking ahead and got SS taken care of for the next 5 years.  Not to mention, Simmons will easily be the best short stop in the AL defensively.  If we sign an impact bat for LF, this team is already miles ahead of last year.  Im hoping we just let Freese go, put Cowart/Kubitza at 3rd and replace JG with Escobar.

Thats weird, I thought Pujols was a 1B.  Escobar will fill in at 2B or 3B, either way its a huge upgrade, worst case scenario we are dealing with either Gia or Cowart next season, neither will cripple this team.  Escobar fills a need this team has had for a long time.

Relievers can be acquired much easier than an infielder who gets on base.  You are overvaluing Gott to insane proportions. We just got an every day player to fill a position that is critical for this team.  If were in win now mode, this move needed to be made.  Were not going to get anyone good for free so please put down the pipe and stop with the fantasies.

Color me optimistic but I actually think we have improved a lot so far this offseason. Simmons is an upgrade over Aybar. They both post an identical OBP, but Simmons is a way better defensively, and no more mental midget Aybar mistakes.
We got an infielder who can post a solid OBP, and doesnt strike out. Now we have the option to plug 2b or 3b or do nothing and roll with Cowart/Gia.
If we sign a big bat for LF, we have the best outfield in baseball by far. To go along with a pretty competent infield. Defensively, we should be preventing a lot of runs next season. Id be okay with letting Freese walk, plugging in CowaKubi at 3rd, putting Escobar on 2nd, and watching a great infield defense take away base hits all season.
