Saw this and truly believe that some of the minor league players I’ve been watching recently miles better than this clown. It’s like the halos plucked him off a bike on his Mormon mission and swapped out his shirt and tie for a uniform.

My parent company is in Canada, I experienced this firsthand. Thankfully I'm 100% remote now.

halonatic13 got a reaction from Vegas Halo Fan in Possible long term extensions for players other than Ohtani
Everyone's mentality here is why we always need to go after the big splash in FA. There is no risk to signing these young players to long term contracts. I love what the Braves are doing. Detmers, Sandoval, Rengifo, Ward is who I sign long term.

He's on a hot streak right now. Let's see if he can maintain a productive pace through the end of next season or if he fizzles out like Walsh.

halonatic13 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in 2022-23 Free Agency Early Look
I remember reading that Perry wants to make sure our backups players are of high caliber, so if a starter goes down, we don't go down to Duffy/Mayfield/McKinnon level of players. Our bench has sucked for quite the time. I wouldn't mind knowing that our backup is more than capable of holding the line before the starter comes back from injury. Because we ALL know it's going to happen.

I think I’ve pointed this out before.
I have about 44k Twitter followers and the Angels official account has over 1M. So to me that means a very large number of the Angels “customers” are just interested in when the next fireworks night is and what bobbleheads are coming up and not so much who is making the spot start on Wednesday or why Andrew Velazquez is playing or which pitchers they’ll target in FA, etc.

I would normally respond but @lou would prefer that I practice restraint. See Lou, I make a friendly post, and this is what the response is.

As far as hype goes, MO was up there with Pujols at the time. He was our first bona-fide big name FA in years. Felt like good times ahead.
Literally first inning of his first game, baseball gods were like "never forget who you are, Angels"

$400 mil would enable one to purchase alot of rice.

I should have done that multi quote thing.
But this is the same answer as I gave above.
As of right now the Angels are going to try to win next season, so they’re going to want to keep Ohtani whether or not he signs an extension. (Maybe that changes if Trout suffers some kind of setback over the next two months.)

halonatic13 reacted to ThisismineScios in Moniak vs Marsh
The OP is a false premise. From a team building perspective, you aren’t trading one for the other. These trades happened at different times, and the Angels were mulling an offer from Toronto for Syndergaard. I’m guessing, based on rumors, that involved taking Syndergaard and Iglesias but asking the Angels to pay down a chunk of it, maybe include a low level prospect. Perry seemingly decided to not have to pay (which is good) and get a 4th OF with a good amount of upside and a low level prospect to replace Marsh, along with being free and clear of Iglesias while getting a possible rotation piece.
Also, it’s not like Moniak is 27 and hopeless. He’s Marsh’s age with less MLB at bats, but had a good spring and a very good AAA season. Worth a shot to see if there’s more there.

Moniak minors .256/.305/.410/.715
Marsh minors .288/.371/.440/.811
I hope this clears up any discussion about which player has a more likely chance to have a major league career.
