Jerry Dipoto's speech last night was typical for him: candid, highly articulate.  The tone he set -- pulling back the curtain, giving as straight an answer as he could -- was matched by Tim Mead and his candor this morning.
 
Reading between the lines, I took a few conclusions from Dipoto's and Mead's presentations: Buttercup's days are numbered at the Big A -- as are Joe Blanton's.  Both welcome developments!

If the Angels had a need for a righty power/ no average bat off the bench, could they re-acquire Wells and would he have to accept their offer?  Has this ever happened in major league history?

You guys do know about this right?

I'm an Angels fan because your character is best defined when you're cheering through adversity.  I was ecstatic -- then rather uncomfortable -- when the Angels won the World Series.  The prospect of winning another championship by turns thrills and terrifies me.  (I'll be uncomfortable again if the Angels are world champions.)  I define the Angels as a team that's fun to cheer for, through good times and bad... and for whom bad times seem to come easier than good times.  I couldn't live with myself if I was a fan of a team that always wins... that just seems too easy.  I'm happy and comfortable rooting for a team for whom winning is an aspiration; one that is within grasp, and one that will be sweeter to savor when it finally comes to pass.

MLB fans in Las Vegas will be thrilled.

Chuck, I think HaloFromVegas, Party of 4, will be able to make this next year!  Cool, we hated to miss this year's event.  
 
Any details on which game will have the Tim Mead pregame talk?  Is that in the works?  That was a highlight last time.  
 
Will the evening event be Saturday night?
