So, Grienke is now Arte's as well? Nice. Revisionist history rocks.

I put the blame squarely on Dipoto for Pujols and Hamilton. If he didn't drive the decision, then he sure as hell didn't convince the owner not to do it...and if the owner can walk all over him like that he's the wrong guy for the job.

It the GM's job to advise the owner where to spend his money.  I have no doubt that Dipoto fully supported the Hamilton signing and the Greinke trade.

Although I do put some blame on Dipoto for Josh, I put more of that on the actual player.

The Angels are facing Josh Johnson tonight. He's been almost as bad as Blanton, so the Angels "should" be able to score at least 6 runs tonight. Hopefully, Richards has a quality start and the bullpen does it's job for a change.

Angel fans have every right to vent right now.  I'm mad as can be, myself.  People have to be held accountable for the decisions they made.  Joe Blanton was a horrible decision.  Sean Burnett was a questionable one.  If you look at how Burnett ended last year - he had elbow problems and didn't pitch the last month of the season and then had "minor" surgery on his elbow afterwards.  More than half of the current 40 man roster are players that Dipoto brought in - many of them are waiver wire claims. trades or free agent signings.  The most productive players on the roster were not brought in by Dipoto with the exception of CJ Wilson - and he's mediocre at best. The Angels went into last off season with holes in the pitching rotation and bullpen - and those holes didn't get filled properly.  This season is on Dipoto, first and foremost in my mind.

The best thing the Angels can do right now is extend Mike Trout and lock him up for several years.  That's the only ray of sunshine we can hope for in this current season.  This has to get done.

Blind faith isn't my strong suit. I have to have some reason for my optimism. Just hoping that a bad team gets better for no apparent reason doesn't quite fit the bill.

Chuck we can go back and use the same excuses for Reagins.
Wells stopped hitting and was declining like Pujols.
    Morales broke his foot.
Pinero and Kazmirs arms fell off.
    Abreu got old.
Arte didn't want to re-sign Vlad and got Matsui.
Scioscia refused to let go of Mathis and forced the Napoli deal.
    Scott Shields got old.

Yes Dipoto fleeced us for Corbin and Skaggs but he also put this organization in deep water with Hamilton and Pujols so he's no JeDi genius like he was touted to be. Don't forget Blanton.....

The productive nucleus of this team didn't come from Dipoto. Weaver, Trout, Trumbo, Aybar, Kendrick all come from a previous administration.

Last I checked Torii Hunter was hitting .316 and Josh Hamilton who is a much larger investment is only hitting .226

Does he dance better than Mark (not that it matters, he won't be doing any dancing with the Angels)?

If that is true, than why is Cowgill on the team?  Isn't it Dipoto who has the authority who is on the 25 man roster?

If that is true, than why did Dipoto sign Cowgill in the first place?  Or is Scioscia another making that call as well.

@MikeDiGiovanna: Sean Burnett was signed for 2 years and $8 million by #Angels. Combine that with Ryan Madson signing (1 year, $3.5 million) ... Not good.

As far as I can tell Dipoto has not made one good move for the long term benefit of this organization.

He has made several poor moves, but not one good one.  The draft may have been good, so that is a plus.  Green may pan out, but that move was just made.

I think 2014 should be his very last chance to improve the long term prospects of this team.  Personally, I would have already fired him.

I assumed they would sign Greinke. Team cannot make another gamble like that. If they deal Trumbo or Kendrick, they need a SP back who is under contract for a few more years/under team control

...who is also a .249 hitter with a low OBP and on pace to strike out 173 times this year.

He doesn't seem to be getting better in these areas. What if he hits .239 next year with 25 HR, 80 RBI? Move him now when his value is highest. We have a desperate need for quality pitching.

Trumbo is a 1B who can only kind of sort of play the OF, and has a career .782 OPS. He'll also be 28 by the time the 2014 season begins and is entering his expensive years.

He's a good player, but he's not the kind of player you pillage a team's farm system when trading.
