Well than it's not going to be a pretty off-season.
Personally I have:
Snell 150mil over 6 years= 25 mil
Stroman 72 mil over 4 years= 18 mil
Moore= 8 Mil
Lopez: 33mil over 3 years
Snell will get something more, like 180 over 6 years. So, pass on Stroman. His second half swoons are something we don't need. Besides, our guys, Detmers, Sandoval, etc. are already as good as Stroman.
Moore and Lopez I'm ok with. We can give part of the Stroman money to Justin Turner, and add some leadership to our clubhouse.

As far as the White Sox, Soto for Jonathan Cannon, White Sox # 11, more of a project, but good size at 6'6".
I know they won't send us back Ky Bush.
-
Giants and White Sox looking at SS market. Rengifo or Soto for a controllable young arm?
Rengifo for Mason Black? SF #9 prospect, near ML ready. Good K numbers in AAA this season.
-
He can manage until he's 80, as far as I'm concerned, as long as it translates to results on the field.
Oh, and no more relapses. We went through that already with Josh Hamilton.

If the Angels hire Ron Washington as manager simply because he can "command a room", then they really should have gone back and rehired Mike Scioscia. Remember what happened with Mike and Jose Guillen?
Nearly any manager should be able to command a room. I do it when necessary at my job. I guess that makes me qualified to manage the Angels.
Seriously, if this is what they want, Erstad is the guy, and he's 15 years younger, at least.

Erstad or David Ross.
-
David Ross didn’t see that one coming.

Lol @ making a thread to ask if we should sign a 30 year old who hasn’t played in the majors in 2 years to a minor league deal
Nearly the exact same argument was made against the Moniak deal, except Moniak is 5 years younger.
I understand. My point is that it will only cost a minor league deal to take a flyer on a player who was a second round draft pick. Every season there is a comeback story somewhere.

Bellinger, Turner, Yamamoto.
Bellinger to play RF, or 1B if Schaunel is not ready. Trout in CF, Ward to LF.
Turner to DH for most of the ab's there, the rest to be used to give regulars days off.
Yamamoto to help anchor the staff. If the Padres are cutting payroll, an inquiry on Snell or Musgrove, if the medicals are clean.

If Arte Moreno is really looking for a POBO, Ng would be a fine choice. Especially since Theo will turn the job down.
While we are at it, can't we bring back Eddie Bane in some type of role? Assistant POBO?
-
We are at the bottom. Just a reminder. The 2001 team went 75-87. The 2002 team went 99-63, without a major rebuild.
As of now, we still have Trout, Neto, Schaunel, Ward, Adell, O'Hoppe, Sandoval, Estevez, Detmers, and more. So, there is plenty of talent here, and a lot of room for improvement.

If they are having that much trouble, I'll volunteer to manage the team, for the ML minimum.

I think we have a good chance, better than some people think.

As far as a POBO goes, I don't think that Arte will be offering the job to Theo Epstein.

My point in this whole discussion is that the Angels have other players on their roster with considerably less potential than CRod.
They could have outrighted any one of them, and continued to let CRod rehab through the winter, and into spring training next season before making a determination as to where he fit in the organization.

I'm so glad we kept Kenny Rosenberg and Eduardo Escobar.
Escobar is going to be a FA, all our potential FA's will be removed from the roster once they file. For the Angels purposes, I used Rosenberg and Fletcher because as of now, I can't see them with the organization long term.

He hasn’t played in 2 and a half years and had another setback in his recovery a month ago that has him unable to throw a baseball. Not worth using a 40 man spot on anymore
Not my point. My point is that there are players currently on the roster, like Rosenberg and Fletcher, that we could've used to clear roster space.

I'm curious as to what Erstad said in his Dodgers interview that made him a frontrunner for that job.
I think that if we made a few tweaks to our current roster, Erstad would make a fine manager.
-
Rodriguez has a big arm. There are plenty of pieces of dead wood on our roster that I would've gotten rid of before him.

The general stigma around MLB is starting to be that Ohtani will be rocking a Dodgers uniform very soon
