Don’t forget, Blakely is still really young. If he repeats AA, I expect a much better showing.

they're almost relying on that weirdness though. When you get it from 1 out of 3 or 4 guys then it's reasonable. But if they're going for volume, then I just don't get the math at this point. You can't just keep taking up roster spots on AAAA players in hopes you get 1 or 2 to be functional relievers. Point is, they better add about another 7 or 8 guys to the list of non roster invites and be willing to cut bait quickly on the crew they have now if early performance dictates such.
And for sure they're gonna need it from the call ups. Hopefully, Joyce, Soriano, Estevez can hold any leads they get while they do an april tryout again to fill out the rest.
Don’t leave out Bachman and Cacares. I think that they will be contributing this season.

I thought Orton would have a longer career as a backup. Oh, well. And, I thought Brandon Wood was going to be a good ML 3B. Wrong.
-
He’s got an option remaining, he’s under 30, and he has experience as a starting pitcher. He’s also right handed, which gives some balance to the staff. Low risk, high reward type of signing.

Still put up a Sub 4 ERA and a 3.5 FIP. Not sure why half a season would label him as a mistake, especially when he's been, pretty consistently, well above average since 2018 including in 2023.
So did Giolito, but almost everyone here didn’t want him back, even though Giolito is a lot younger.
-
Would someone please look at what Stroman did in the second half of last season before we make a mistake? An ERA of nearly 9 in the second half, when he could pitch at all. Spend to get Snell for the rotation, and Bellinger for the offense. Then, if Ward is dealt for another SP, I’d be alright with it.
-
Sure hope the Red Sox don’t get what we got. That’s a lot of money for someone who was as bad as he was last season.

Not a single thought for the Angels first MVP? Don Baylor was a great Angel, and a great player. I vote for Don Baylor!

I have been an Angels fan since 1970. I’ve had gear with all the logos. I like the red jerseys, and the city connects. I think they should consider going back to the road grey uniforms with Los Angeles across the front.
-
I said this earlier, but I like Turner. He’s a clubhouse leader, and I think we could offer him a transition into coaching, if he’s interested.

Depends how much Bellinger wants, I'm not giving him 200 mill. SP getting thin besides Snell most are mid rotation pitchers. For me let's see growth with Neto, Schaunel as they do not even have half a year experience. Again lot of if's on halos with a starting staff that has trouble going 5 inn. BP needs additions. Lot of needs and players coming off board daily with Perry not making one move of worth talking about. I'm wondering if this is off season halos do not spend.
200 mil is the new 160, besides, it’s Arte’s money, not ours. I’m just saying that we need a clear path to replace the lost offense.

Just because you are 65 to 70 mill under lux tax does not mean you have to spend it. Maybe better opportunities will be next off season. Let's see what young players can do. I hope they stay away from Snell, Bellinger, Hernandez, Chapman (3B).
All true. But adding a player like Bellinger, who’s a GG fielder at multiple positions, would help to replace the offense lost when Ohtani left, would be a great move. Another SP would also be nice. Good health from Trout, Ward, & Rendon makes up for some of the loss, growth from O’hoppe, Neto, and Schaunel makes up the rest.
-
I don’t think we’ll sign Teoscar. We have only added players on the minor league side that control the strike zone and limit strikeouts.
If we add to our major league roster, I think we’ll be looking to add the same type of players. -

I imagine any deal with Thaiss likely involves him being like the third most important outgoing Halo.
Only thing that would change that would be if they did sign someone like Garver, Sanchez, or Maldonado and they were literally just swapping him to a team that had some 40-depth roster jams and had a similar out of options reliever or someone even fringier with options.
Thaiss has value because he is a passable C that hits from the left side. He can also play 1B. Any team looking for a LHH bench bat would be in play. He’d be a nice fit for NYY, for example.
-
Thaiss as a DH candidate? His bat would probably improve if he doesn’t have to worry about catching.
He could be our emergency C, and back up at 1B and in the corner OF.
-
Trading Drury after losing Ohtani would be giving away even more offense. Not a good idea.

Rivas is a L/L 1B. Ok, I don’t understand this move at all. Unless there is another move coming, I don’t see a fit.

I’ve been hoping we’d sign Bellinger for the last two offseasons. I suspect that those bad seasons were due to injury.
The Angels need to replace at least part of the offense that left with Ohtani.
Also, Bellinger is a plus defender in the OF and 1B. -

Can you think of a hard thrower who had a 14-season-long stretch of sustained mediocrity or worse in the minors and majors who then had a good 2-3 years in the majors? I can't think of anyone off the top of my head. Maybe a comp exists, but I'm having a hard time coming up with one.
Brendan Donnelly comes to mind.
-
Regarding Joey Bart, I’d at least see what the price would be. A good number 2-3 catcher would be nice.
