So it's the bullpens fault we had the bases loaded zero outs in the bottom of the ninth and couldn't score a single run. Wait wait your right we gave up 4 runs total last night and we managed to score 2. That definitely falls on the pitching staff.

I agree, Calhoun is one i'd be ok with them trading.
The trades will certainly make the 2017 team on pace for 90 to 100 losses, Heaney probally won't be the same his 1st year back.
So then they have Top5 picks in 2017 & 2018 drafts. The farm becomes hopefully completely restocked within a few years
Even though prospects will take long to develop, with a rebuilt farm system they could always trade them for star players & sign some good FAs in 2019 when more salary is off the books & keep Trout from leaving.

I'd move everyone, including Calhoun and Simmons for the right package. Why not? The team is going to suck for the foreseeable future, so might as well bring in some young talent and go full rebuild.

The irony of course is that at least Calhoun, Simmons, and Shoemaker are the type of "good young players" you want to trade for, so trading them would be robbing Peter to pay Paul - unless you're trading them for big prospect packages.
I think this trade deadline we'll see Eppler try to unload Escobar, Street, and any slightly useful spare parts like Cron, Soto, Salas, Smith, Santiago, Gio, etc. If someone blows him away with an offer for Shoemaker or Calhoun, he will have to consider it, but either would require at least a grade A prospect or several grade B prospects.
I maintain the view I've held for awhile now, that the focus shouldn't be about trying to win within the "Trout Window," but on extending the Trout window through re-building, so that come 2020 the org is in good shape and Trout won't want to leave. To do that will require patience and a huge investment in player development and scouting - especially international. So I'd really like to see the Angels minimize free agent spending for the next year or two and instead pour that money into the farm.

Regarding Pujols, I know we don't necessarily have anyone to take his spot even if he were gone but... what would it take to get rid of him? At some point he's like a huge weight bringing down the team. Knowing we have him for 5 more years is a real motivation killer. Would you guys unload him if someone was willing to pay 5 mil a year of his contract? Would Arte eat another $100+M? He is a better hitter than our other options right now but cutting ties at some point might be best for the team (if we could find anyone to pay ANYTHING). Maybe an AL contender will need a bat for DH at the deadline and are desperate?

I just don't really wanna see him in Angels red anymore. But ya back to the sell everything part. Please can the Angels just finally admit its a rebuild and cut bait. There is no prize for pretending theres a chance the next couple years. Gut rebuild replace trade everything that has value keep Trout till the final year of his contract and if you know he won't resign with the club before the start of the year you trade him for a haul and make your peace with the fact that the Angels had Trout at his peak.

He will also be making 15+ million a year too. It makes no sense to keep Calhoun imo.
Are you saying the Angels are 5 years out from having a competitive team though? Cause Calhoun is only 28 right now.

Yep, Reagins was given a better team and a better farm.  He didn't do much with it.  I do agree this is much worse than any year in about 20 years.  Expensive players past their prime, lousy pen, injured staff, and a bunch of one dimensional players that aren't great at that one dimension.

For a team in last place it seems a lot of people have players they feel you can't trade. You do realize we are pretty much one of the worst teams in baseball. But ya lets not trade anyone haha
