I read somewhere, or it may have been on Trout's Before the Bigs episode on FSW, that taking Grichuk was a negotiating tactic. It gave the team some leverage because Jeff Trout was turning the screws on them about the amount of the signing bonus.
MLB Network also covered the Trout draft story pretty well in their doc from a couple of years ago called "Mike Trout: Millville to MVP." Great doc. I still have it on my DVR. I watch it a couple of times a year.
I like him. He's not one of those analysts who acts like a know-it-all. I've seen him admit to being wrong a bunch of times. And with the stuff he does know about, he seems to be spot on.
