  1. This is Jerrry Dipoto getting butthurt that he didn’t win the Ohtani sweepstakes and leaking the medicals to the media. This is like when a guy doesn’t get the girl and then starts sending the guy she chose photoshopped pictures of her with a penis.
  2. Would anymore message board Doctors like to chime in with their diagnosis?
  3. Speaking of boring, the Winter Meetings have been a total snooze fest. And I’m not even talking about the Angels, it’s been boring in general. Hopefully some stuff starts happening soon. At least let’s get some good rumors going.
  4. Sabathia is a perfect candidate for a 6-man rotation. Last time he pitched 200 innings was 2013. Could be a selling point for him.
  5. If we do go with a 6 man rotation, it might be enough for Darvish to take a lesser deal to come here since he’s advocating for them. Plus it gives Ohtani more at bats. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/yu-darvish-six-man-rotation-elbow-reduce-injuries-tommy-john-surgery-072214%3famp=true
  6. I just don’t trust that elbow of Richards.
  7. I don't know about all this collusion and making the Yankees relevant talk. If getting one game away from going to the World Series last year doesn't mean you're relevant, I don't know what does.
  8. No, it's really just for the atmosphere. If you don't care about that, it's probably better to just watch it on TV. It can be hard to hear the questions and answers being asked in person because of all the yelling and screaming fans.
  9. I don't think we have to give up anything for Stanton. The Marlins want him gone and after his vetoes today, they're desperate to trade him to whoever will take that contract off their hands. It's a straight salary dump for the Marlins. I rather have Darvish. Having Darvish/Ohtani/Richards are the top of the rotation is just too sexy to pass up.
  10. No, just show up. I went to the one for CJ Wilson and Albert Pujols. It was a great atmosphere to be a part of.
  11. Definitely not. All the starting pitchers are already conditioned and used to doing 5 man rotations. Pitching after extended rest can be just as detrimental as pitching on short rest. Since they started in the minor leagues they have been a part of a 5 man rotation. I’d be more in favor of inning limits for Ohtani before I’d be in favor of a 6 man rotation.
  12. I think he wanted to stay away from teams that had established Japenese players. Darvish wouldn't be established with the Angels. However, I can see Darvish taking away some of the media spotlight in Japan. Not sure how important that is to him.
  13. I think Dipoto has no problems taking a one year ban if it means he gets Ohtani. There isn't enough cialis in the world to equal the feeling he will get once Ohtani signs on the dotted line.
  14. What's wrong with his vision that caused them concern? With the surgeries available today, most which are done and over with in a day or two, for them to void a contract because of vision concerns isn't good. Unless they had buyers remorse and just wanted out of the deal so they did their best Peter Angelos.
  15. Like I said in the other thread, I think we got played on this one. I think Ohtani wanted to go to the Mariners from the get go but his agent told him they would wait to announce it so he can try to get some more money out of them. He used the Angels as a threat and made the Mariners more than double what they were initially able to offer. Will be a good play by his agent when it’s all said and done. He’s going to the team he wanted to all along plus he’s getting an extra $2 million on top of it.
  16. Here is a list I found from about a month ago and I edited it to reflect some of the recent changes. I might be missing something here and there though, but should be close. Seattle Mariners — $3,557,000 Texas Rangers — $3,535,000 New York Yankees — $3,250,000 Pittsburgh Pirates — $2,266,750 Los Angeles Angels — $2,210,000 Minnesota Twins — $1,245,000 Philadelphia Phillies — $900,000 Milwaukee Brewers — $765,000 Miami Marlins — $740,000 Arizona Diamondbacks — $731,250 Baltimore Orioles — $660,000 Boston Red Sox — $462,000 Tampa Bay Rays — $440,500 Chicago Cubs – $300,000 Chicago White Sox – $300,000 Cincinnati Reds – $300,000 Houston Astros – $300,000 Kansas City Royals – $300,000 Los Angeles Dodgers – $300,000 Oakland Athletics – $300,000 St. Louis Cardinals – $300,000 San Diego Padres – $300,000 San Francisco Giants – $300,000 Washington Nationals – $300,000 Detroit Tigers — $159,500 New York Mets — $150,000 Toronto Blue Jays — $50,000 Cleveland Indians — $10,000 Colorado Rockies — $10,000
  17. Eppler needs to be on the phone working his connections in New York and try and see if he can get some of the $3.25 million the Yankees have in pool money. The only other team with a significant amount of pool money is the Pirates at $2.26 million.
  18. It seems they want the networks to help the ESPN brand. So instead of it being called Fox Sports Prime Ticket or Fox Sports West, it could be called something like ESPN Prime Ticket or ESPN West. Then they can use the regional channels to help promote their programming on the main ESPN channels. So I don’t think it’s neccessrily a good or bad thing for the Angels.
  19. I find it extremely odd that both the Angels and Mariners make trades, with the same team literally within the same hour, for extra cash towards this. It really sounds like someone is getting played here and I just hope it isn't us because it would suck to get played for more money AND lose to Dipoto in all of this.
  20. Every phone in the house went off at the same time.
  21. I think he wants to go to the Padres as well, hence why they are last to meet with him. He gave the other teams opportunities to convince him otherwise, but interview in the order of importance. By Wednesday afternoon, the pitch you heard Monday is most likely drowned out by the next five pitches you received. In my company, we generally interview the person we have in mind for the job last. That doesn't mean someone can't win it from them, but putting the favorite last makes it easier to finalize things with them if no one else stood out more.
  22. I agree. The Pearl Harbor reference was a little much. But it seems some people on this board feel like they have to one up previous racist comments with even harsher ones until someone eventually crosses the line.
