The founding fathers didn't invent democracy. Nor did our current group of politicians invent intrusiveness. And they stood up to tyranny because it got in the way of them profiting. If the tyranny allowed them to profit they wouldn't have cared. And many didn't. And others thought they didn't but changed their mind when they realized money could be more plentiful under a different government. These people were no different than our current politicians. No greater. No wiser. No more willing to forge a better society for all. That is a complete myth.

Citizens United? What's that? There is at least one person in here that doesn't know what it is.

Never understood why people actually believe the founding fathers were beacons of morality sent from above to show the world a new and better way. They were drunkards, racists, money-grubbers, and concerned only for themselves. Not heroes. Some did good deeds. Most mixed in an insane amount of selfishness with those good deeds.

Sorry man, it's very depressing but sorta uplifting at the same time. If they're going to go out, we gotta make the day count!

This is a pretty cool thing that Buzzfeed did a while back about a family that was putting down their family dog. I teared up just re-reading it right now. Warning though, it gets you emotional.

I never realized how much guilt I carried around watching a pet suffer.  It really affected everything I did or said over the course of days and weeks.
 
Putting the animal down was sad no doubt about it.  After a couple days though, I started feeling a huge load lifted off my back.  Adopting another animal right away helped to get through the sadness...

I agree that the unfortunate consequence of that decision is still obscene money being spent on campaigns but the decision itself is an interesting one.  I think we would all agree that corporations should have rights, in the matter of criminal defense, civil litigation and other areas.
 
At what point do they stop having the same rights as individuals?  It is an interesting topic.
