  1. With Weaver/Lackey-esque emotion, too.
  2. Couldn't agree more. While it seemed like Gubicza was over the top in phrase of the 2 seamer and curve, it was really, truly promising. The 2 seamer especially had crazy movement. Sometimes players in a sport follow the new hot thing and leave an opening for someone to do the thing that most are abandoning. That could very well be the case with Harvey and that pitch. The trend has been to abandon it, resulting in batters less familiar with the cut of it (and dear lord did his have a ton of late movement tonight). I remember always loving the pitch thanks to Scot Shields. His, especially to lefties, was brutal. Would seem like it was definitely going to hit the batter, then would end up a called strike on the inside edge of the plate.
  3. Hire Jose Mota as new manager! *under rocks this poster perhaps does duck*
  4. That's another scenario that could be explored in tdawgs "taint injury" thread. Though I have to say it would sound like a legit cause for being on the ITL for 10-12 weeks.
  5. His name is Cody, cut him some slack. That's got to have been rough. Then again, we didn't give the benefit of the doubt to Daisy Fuentes, so carry on. LTBU! Win 1 of 161!
  6. Chuckrichter@hotmale.com email address gives it away. I feel like that joke is likely to get my ad free AW account update delayed. No regrets, though.
  7. I texted my buddy that it's funny watching a buttray pitch to a chaps man. Almost as good as Ohtani facing Oh last year.
  8. Based on the way he runs, it's news to me that that's not the explanation for Pujols gait. Taint gait.
  9. That new pitcher in the 5th spot of the rotation in the final game of the Cubs series.
  10. Anybody remember and can link where it was that Eppler was quoted as mentioning Trout calling/texting him about things he saw in our milb games or how he lobbied for us to draft Adell? When I saw those two things, it made me appreciate him a ton more than I already did. And yes, this Fletch article is amazing. @Jeff Fletcher has been a voice of reason and fantastic resource throughout this, as always. If his bosses are reading, give the man a raise!
  11. Forgot the autocorrect it does here. Was intentional and wish in this rare case it was allowed because I do feel strongly enough to have it be written that forcefully. I haven't contributed enough here (especially during the offseasons) to have that benefit of the doubt, if anyone deserves that mulligan. Noted, though, appreciate the relatively gentle critique, you could've gone a lot harsher on me!
  12. I just wanted one facking time to get a facking exemption being this facking fack of a fack deserves our facking appreciation spoken in real facking terms. I've been facking for more than 4 hours, should I facking call a doctor?
  13. I couldn't watch live but dvr'd it. I think that was my favorite aspect. He didn't come across as being blindly loyal to the team. He wanted to stay, but wouldn't have if he didn't believe in the direction of the org. Forget where I saw it (probably here quoting another news outlet), but stunned at how he called Eppler at midnight sometimes, talking about Adell or whomever in the minors had a good game. That's just not Facking normal for a historical great. Not Facking normal. Just like him. He's not normal. His press conference speech was godawful. It was clearly not rehearsed with a media coach. Not normal for a dude that's gonna make almost 600 million of the course of his career to stumble over words and be that humble and uncomfortable in the spotlight. Not Facking normal. Actually human. He's now our not Facking normal all time great real normal damn human being. Because normal isn't normal in professional sports. We get both and I couldn't feel more appreciative to get this kind of normal for 12 more years.
  14. This is the internets, so I'm pretty sure this is unfortunately inaccurate.
  15. Poor Jeffy, as a board favorite he really doesn't deserve to have to move to SLC.
  16. Don't try to execute the squeeze play against Boston in the playoffs. Figgins is not clutch.
  17. What's up? Sorry for leaving my favorite sidepiece alone all winter, needed a few month break from baseball for the first time in years. Jokes aside... as usual, I agree with you. Would love one of those that actually see the milb games to chime in. Why? Because how on earth does a guy break out for us in AA (our most pitcher friendly ballpark/league), with massively increased power, plate discipline and next to no increase in K rate? That's rare. What I'd guess is even more rare, though, is to do that across a substantial number of PA (352) and then to get promoted to the Bees and not hit a single HR in 73 PA. It's a real head scratcher to me. This is one of those times actual scouting would be extremely helpful.
  18. I didn't know you could get an 80 game suspension for Public Erectile Dysfunction. Seems like he got the short end of the stick here.
  19. Pujols has an OPS north of 1.300. BSOHL nonsense aside, that's really all you need to know.
  20. Frustration made me take the Lukewarm Stove season off (though I did check in on the news here periodically). Based on this thread subject, I'm guessing GoDaddy managed to blow up and we lost all threads since 2013? Half joking. I remember thinking Bourjos literally was the outfield version of Eck during that one crazy first half of a season. Since then I've had trouble remembering whether the U belonged in the first or second half of his name. Have to admit I'd really love it if he figured something out and was the best 4th outfielder in the game this year. Likelihood of that is in the ballpark of 0.001%, but would be awesome.
  21. i suguest u retake yur 69th great civiqs class if u think teh prostitution sez he dont haz teh rites 2 reed tha ten Bills of rites an terpret theem lik he durn wheel wans 2. ...Not sure why I did this when it legitimately caused my brain physical harm and gave me a headache in the process. Carry on.
  22. I'm not a fan of the move, mainly because if it seems to Trout like we're going to keep doing the "hey, maybe this injury prone ex-ace pitcher can pitch 180 innings at a high level again" shtick, he's probably less likely to re-sign. That said, have seen a few quote the 14 mil with incentives as absurd because Harvey totally sucks now. If he does, it's going to be the 11M, not the 14M. We should actually hope they pay him 14M this year.
  23. Did this game start when the Angels were still in contention for the wild card?
  24. I've been thankful for the Lakers being interesting this coming year and the Rams being awesome (against bad competition, sure, we'll see in coming weeks), so had good distractions from this train wreck of a year. It makes so much sense Cowart would hit the 1 grand slam. It makes even more sense I tried to turn the game on 5 minutes beforehand and Directv was acting up so I said oh well and changed the channel. Good for Kaleb!
