  1. I was looking at minor league career, you're right that Lana butt Rey (copyright pending, sorry AO) has improved both the Ks and the walks. Jerez reminds me of a lefty Bedrosian in that I got super stoked about Bedrock's Ks (hell, I actually ended up in a dugout suite a few years ago and asked Boras and his scout about Bedrosian, when he was K'ing 15+/9. They just shook their head at me. I thought I was smarter than they were, oops). Maybe Jerez doing it as a lefty in that league is different.
  2. If that's the way you see this I totally agree. I just feel like I'm reading that we got future stud relievers, and I don't see that from their stats. Anybody have any idea on how the IL league plays? As in the PCL is death on pitchers. Is there an IL league skew, or one specifically for Pawtucket?
  3. I'd be a fan of the trade even if it was for nothing, just to get some chances to the farm. That out of the way, K rates are good, but both walk too many guys and have blah WHIPs and are 25 and 26 years old. Sometimes relievers take a bit based on conversion to relief as failed starters, so doesn't mean they can't be good. But until we see that improvement, what part of lots of reliever walks and men on base are we stoked about? I hope I'm missing something, and again am glad to give our MI prospects a shot. Please just help me understand the optimism for the prospects received. Thanks!
  4. So close to it being a 1 run game... Damn!
  5. Pujols goes strong opposite field with a dribbler! Would be so awesome to win this way ha.
  6. Upton with a scorching line drive to the gap in the... Uh, mound... There's still a chance!
  7. I don't know why I haven't felt like it was hopeless. Guess a few huge games does that to the psyche, but asking a lot to do it this many games in a row.
  8. Apparently Parker isn't a fan of Gamel's hairstyle.
  9. Might be easier to answer the reverse. He had no velocity, no command and his pitches were flat.
  10. That kid that was scared of the HR better be glad it's summer break. Would get teased mercilessly at school tomorrow.
  11. Yay Upton! 6 run game! Not a good situation, but not quite hopeless...
  12. He's celebrating in Cooperstown with Vlad and his 27 children.
  13. Kole should have his thumbs down ready today.
  14. Funny, I was going to include "to each his own" too. Glad you enjoy it, wish FG used their pitcher WAR so I didn't have to go to bbr ever ha. ? Marte party?
  15. I don't think it's simple at all. Not straightforward to get to sortable player stats. Many places unclear whether you're going to get player or team stats until you click the link. I'm used to it by now, but still don't like the organization.
  16. Holy shit what a weekend for dudes named Felix.
  17. Agree. I just generally prefer the FG site. I've always hated how bbref is organized.
  18. He's staying behind the plate? That's crazy.
  19. Whoa.... Hope the ump is alright, that's terrifying.
  20. Maybe I just wish they called it something different then. Wins Above Replacement player doesn't fit for the pitching stat. Position player WAR tells you what value the player had. Pitcher WAR doesn't. I don't think Pena is going to do that every time out. It was quantifiably bad, even if you take out Upton's defensive impact.
  21. I understand that. But any stat that looks at a starting pitching performance where the starter goes a third of an inning allowing 7 runs and says, "nah, that guy didn't hurt his team's chance of winning today" is fundamentally flawed.
  22. Proof pitcher WAR useless? Here's today's worst pitching performances: Yeah, that's wrong
