Man, Pac12 leadership really screwed this up. It must really suck to be an OSU or WSU fan. I base this on how I felt about the situation before we got our lifeline.

Why is Cal traveling to North Texas?
That’s where we find ourselves now. We just got a stay of execution this morning.

ACC it is. Go Bears.
The travel is truly atrocious for Cal and Stanford, though.

This guy is possibly having seizures or TIAs and they just keep trotting him out there. That’s cool. He makes Biden look like he’s fresh on the scene.

Wouldn't not going to the Big 10 have screwed the tax payers. UCLA had huge debt that the Regents would have had to take on had they not joined the Big 10. If both schools would have made $30-$40 a year in the Pac 11 and UCLA is making $80-$90 a year in the Big 10 then that's a net gain for the regents to have UCLA go.
We’ll see how it works out. The Cal Stadium debt is a lot of money to eat.
I’m pumped for some potential ACC basketball.
Go Bears!

I love the idea of playing some of those schools, but this only makes sense for football and basketball. The travel would be brutal and absolute bullshit for any true student athlete that’s not being NIL compensated and is actually focused on their degree as the primary outcome of their time at Cal/Stanford.
They should join ACC or Big Ten for football and basketball and go with the Big West for everything else.
Anyway, it’ll be fun when all of this comes crashing down due to linear distribution declining.
…and OSU and WSU are possibly screwed over.
Also, UCLA kinda screwed over California taxpayers by bolting. Cal has a lot (hundreds of million$) of football related debt that will not be able to be paid off should they not be able to participate in big time college football. That’s gonna fall on the UC Regents. This was the thing that they should have thought through when they signed off on UCLA’s departure without having Cal attached to them.

Au revoir, Cal Football.

Just came across this…
This is heartbreaking. Lou’s been the best Angels forum presence since we started out on the ESPN boards. The intensity of how much I hate cancer is met by that of how much I appreciate Lou and his contributions.
He’s a really good dude and, more importantly: NOT A TROJAN.
I’m praying for you, @Lou. Love you, man.

This situation is so weird.
Cal and Stanford are the college representatives for the 6th largest media market in the US. Then again, how important is a media market in 2023?
Stanford has arguably the best overall athletic department in the country.
We’ll either be part of the B1G or will be lost. It sure sounds like B1G is only going to 18, though. It’s so bizarre.

I think this is my 19th season using mlb.tv, which is bananas. It became useable just at the right time for me.
I think I used Extra Innings as well for a season or two around 2007, though.

I saw it in one of the dolby theaters. I thought about 70mm but the one in Nashville had literally zero opens seats for days. Hope I don't regret that, since true 70mm is so rare.
Dolby was good enough for me though. Definitely felt the rumble when the bomb went off.
I was so pumped to see actual film, which is weird. The use of the full IMAX screen was just amazing. The countdown and detonation were just jaw dropping and truly induced emotion.
With that said, Dolby Cinema is absolutely awesome and is in general the best way to see a movie. Atmos is so great and the in-seat subs they have definitely make a difference.

Nolan hit it out of the park again with Oppenheimer.
It's basically just a pure dialog movie. So some might find it boring, but the dialog is so fucking good.
Saw it in IMAX 70mm. Holy crap that’s a hell of an achievement. Absolutely wonderful.

Just saw it. I really did like Hayley Atwell's character. It was a typical MI film. Although I didn't think it had as many twists as past MI films. Just IMO, but this one lacked the suspense of an impossible mission that turned at the end. This one was kind of predictable. Also, for some reason, the special effects bugged me on this film. Usually it's seamless, and you get drawn into the action. In this one, there just seemed to be too many incidents of this was done on a green screen moments. Especially on the train, where there was one scene that the green screen seemed to be off, like blurry or grainy or something and looked totally like a 80's action flick. But it was overall a good flick.
I appreciated that it took all of the technology out of the protagonist’s hands. Of course, there’s just about nothing that they can’t do anyway by franchise definition, but that was a good pivot.
McQuarrie is just a really solid film maker. That train scene was straight up awesome. Yes, you could see CGI in it, but it was brilliantly executed.

Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning, part 1
saw it last night with my brother. fantastic action movie. if you've been a fan of the series, then you'll enjoy this one.
they introduce a new character played by hayley atwell, and she doesn't disappoint. she played agent carter in the captain america movie so she'll look familiar. she adds a new and interesting dimension to the series.
there's a typical car chase that goes on a bit too long, but i don't think there was anything else that disappointed.
This one was awesome. The last four of these have been great. I could do without 2 and 3, but this franchise is where it’s at for action films. The car chase did go on too long, but I laughed at the donuts in the Fiat. It seemed they went for more laughs this time around.

It’s a good week or two for films.
Headed to see the new Mission Impossible tonight and then Oppenheimer in 70mm IMAX next week. Barbie looks like it’s gonna be a good watch, too.

So last night was the ESPY's and Shohei Ohtani won the best MLB award on the show.
I didn't watch it, but seeing clips on social media got me to thinking of Norm MacDonald's (RIP) fire monologue that wouldn't play these days with everyone being so sensitive thanks to the far left woke and those on a crusade to bring racism back.
Anyhow, enjoy. This was quite the roast.
Man, he was the best. Honestly, I only think 2 (maybe 1) of those jokes wouldn’t have made it today as is, and one of them I don’t think would have made it would only have to be changed slightly.

25th Amendment, folks. The man is demented.
But Kamala to replace him? Hard to contemplate.
That’s definitely weird behavior by Biden. I’m sure you’d agree that such a move is reGRETAble.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
saw it this afternoon and it was very meh. Seems like it was made primarily for everyone who saw Raiders back in the theater when it was originally released. It’s hard for a guy in his 70s to make an action movie, and there were definitely points where the script accommodated his age or CGI/stunt double was used. The best parts of this movie focus on solving clues to find a treasure.
We find out why his son is not in this movie (played by Shia Le Bouef in the last Indy movie), and we get an update on his marriage to Marion. There’s speculation that someone from this movie will carry on the franchise without Ford. I see it as possible.
It has a sweet ending that the old timers will appreciate.
I loved it. They almost lost me with the third act, but this movie kicked ass. They didn’t try to reinvent the wheel or anything here and that was the right choice. It’s basically one long chase, which was perfect. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was great and her character had so much more potential as a successor to Indy than Shia LeBouf’s. With that said, I don’t think they should continue and they certainly don’t seem to try to make it set in stone like they did at the end of Crystal Skull.
I honestly don’t understand the critical reaction to this film, just like I didn’t understand the critical reaction to The Little Mermaid. Like that one, the audience scores for Indy are more in line with most filmgoers’ experience. This movie hits just the note it needs to. Speaking of notes, you gotta love John Williams.
