Is someone defending the wife beating?

Just take the L “guy”.  You were ready to convict Bauer and ran your trap and you were wrong, as per usual, and now you just vomit up retarded bullshit.  Pretending to stick up for women when your real agenda is to “get” people you hate politically.

I'm down if Montgomery signs for something closer to Rodriguez's 4/$80m versus the 6/$150m that MLBTR predicted.
Both going into their age 31 in '24.

It's more about depth which is pretty shallow in the minors for some key positions. I see it as a work in progress if Minasian can keep Arte from burning his draft picks. But I really like the young core the Angels have now. It's kinda funny thinking Rengifo is the old guy in that group at 27.

Oh so the guy gets wronged, and then because a team won’t be able to force him to keep his mouth shut about him being treated poorly they’ll just force him out of the game.  Seems pretty shitty.
And let’s call a spade a spade,   most people are fucking idiots and spineless cowards who are willing to go along with a shitty situation just so as not to be inconvenienced or be made to feel “on the outside.”  Ya, it might take a bit of balls for a team to sign Bauer and then get up in front of a bunch of people and say, if you don’t like this then fuck you.  Because Bauer did nothing wrong and your opinions of him aren’t based on illegal acts, you just don’t like his personality and that’s not a reason to not sign a talented pitcher that can help a team. Will that happen?  Probably not. Should it?  Absolutely.

Yeah. And every year people on here say we're ranked too low and scouts only pay attention to the Yankees and Dodgers prospects... Meanwhile we've produced Trout, Ohtani and no one else of note in 15 years. Maybe the low rankings were right.

I think they've botched Bachman, Adell, Canning and Suarez. They brought all of those guys up too early, in part due to pressure to win with Trout/Ohtani/Rendon in the lineup. Bachman is injury prone, but in reality he should have spent last year starting once a week in AA or AAA. Adell was brought up in '20 well before he was ready because Eppler needed something. Canning was fast-tracked despite having major injury questions. Suarez was brought up years too early. He came up at age 21 and gave up 23 HR in 81 IP (!!!). 2020 he had a solid 3 point percentage...oh shoot that was his ERA. It took him years to settle in, but who knows if his trajectory would have changed if 2021 was his first year.
They continue to aggressively promote, but there's really only one reason I think the low ranking is a big deal: The lack of pitching talent. The system is extremely dry when it comes to pitching prospects. And this is where you really can have success, having young pitchers under control for 6 years. Free agent pitchers are incredibly unreliable. Other than that, they have C, SS, CF, and 1B pretty well covered for the next 5-6 years. Finding position players isn't as difficult, and even if it is you are more likely to hit on something in FA at OF or 2B than a SP.

LOL ok bud.  Keep dreaming if you think that would be top 10-15.  Full on homer...but i get it, it's a fan site.  But try staying in reality on occasion.  If you want to look at it different, evaluate teams on 23 or 25 and below talent.  It's not good.  A few solid players, sure.  Stars/elite players -- no way.  Certainly well below par compared to the league.
Plus, you could play that same game with every team.  They all have guys advancing and/or traded.

Look, best case scenario he shows up in an Angels uni and there is a media circus for Spring Training his first couple starts. Then he is old news unless something comes up. By the trade deadline if he is pitching well but the Angels are out of it they get a prospect haul in trade. If he is throwing well and the Angels are in the playoffs his bonus money is paid for. If he sucks then they dump him like any other MLB minimum player, no extra costs.

Agree, but because he was found innocent and the accuser was found to be a gold digger from the start, he deserves to return to MLB.
Bad behavior on both ends is unacceptable.   In this case, that’s on her.

Cuban did just sell a majority of the Mavs.  I thought that was more due to him wanting to spend more time and money in other businesses.  But maybe it was to invest in a baseball team.  I don’t really care who the new owner will eventually be once Arte is gone.  I’d just like Arte gone.

This offseason seems to indicate a sale. Lots of one year deals for spare parts; no long term commitments. That is my hope, anyway.

Not saying fangraphs is anything special in terms of rankings but they assign a dollar value based on the normal prospect scale.
They're currently ranked last with an org value of $39m and Schanuel, Soriano, Bachman, Joyce are still ranked.  O'hoppe, Neto, and Silseth are not.  If we're feeling generous and give then 55, and 50 and 50 grades it would move them to 22nd.  And that assumes the orgs they're passing haven't aggressively promoted guys as well.
At the end of the day though, there's a solid core of players under the age of 28 at the major league level and this year will tell us a lot about them that we don't know yet.
It's not about the farm though.  The way this org accumulates and cultivates talent in general isn't done with sustainability in mind.
I'm gonna make a mountain out of a molehill here but the Trey Cabbage trade is something they should be doing a ton of.  Constructing a JV team in AAA is what they should have been doing every year.  Even if it costs them a few extra mil.
How many prospects have they lost out on at the trade deadline?  By either not trading guys away, trading for guys when they have no shot, or getting an upper minors return because it might help next year?
How many prospects have they lost out on by grabbing 4 crap players at moderate expense when they could have spent that on 2 guys with short term deals that would have had a much better chance to have actual value at the deadline.
Trying to create a yearly aberration is not a realistic plan.  Turn a series of small wins into a cumulative net positive over a period of years.

It's hard to imagine a worse farm system than the Angels.  I don't know other teams farm system -- so can't say for sure.  But really, when you get down to the bottom 3-5 teams, it's an argument of whose poo stinks worse.
The good news is turning it around can be done very quickly and has been done many times by teams.  A very good 1-2 drafts and the right trades (when selling) can turn your farm fortunes around VERY quick.  That's where not selling on Ohtani was such a monumental mistake.  That also seems to have impacted some of the drafting -- being more conservative with picks.  I hope the mindset changes starting with this next draft and trades during the season (sellers).  It's time for the Angels FO/ownership to see reality and where they are compared to the league.

Angels in 2030 reacted to Angelsjunky in AngelsWin Today: Taking stock as we approach spring training (and my take on the Perry Minasian Plan, v. 2024)
I don't want to be the douche that says "this isn't fantasy baseball," but...it isn't fantasy baseball. In this context, it means that players have to want to come to your team - you can't just take them in the draft or buy them as you wish (out-bidding others). Sure, Arte could probably sit Snell down and make him an offer he can't refuse, but if I'm Snell I'd rather play for a healthier franchise with a smarter owner, so that offer would have to be truly absurd. And then we're just back where we've been for the last decade: burdened by huge contracts with no sign of getting out.
Maybe people don't want to hear this, but the Angels aren't a desireable team to play for right now. They're not the worst, but there are probably a dozen teams that most players would rather play for, and half a dozen or more that all would prefer.

I would rather none of those guys be fully counted on. That's bad baseball management and on Perry Minasian if he rolls the dice on any of those guys, plus Rendon, to contribute at a high level in 2024.
