Not Victor's best work. It read basically like a recap. I like it when he really digs deep and offers a perspective I wouldn't have considered or had access to before. Like his interview with Vin Scully.
I did notice he had a similar observation that I had after Shohei's first inning. He was working in the 95 mph zone and not 97 like before. Then after a couple innings he was consistently at 98-100.
But I try not to freak out over velocity readings. As I've heard Gubicza say before (and others like Glavine, Nagy and Mulder), adding and subtracting from your fastball presents as a viable 4th pitch in many cases. It's cool if you can sit95, but if you can drop down to 91 on one pitch and add extra movement and then reach back and fire straight 97 on the next, you can really keep hitters off balance.
I notice that Richards and Meyer did that often.

What's worse, saying Eppler will go full on Dipoto or saying we don't need to re-up Trout.
Also, Dipoto sucked at drafting, Eppler is good. Would it make you guys feel better if I said Eppler went double Griffin Canning with the first two picks of the draft?

Matt Olson's look as he walks back to the dugout after striking out is sad.
    He looks totally dejected.

That's a stretch I think. Lamb looks like a decent lefty specialist that can give you a few innings and keep you in it, but when JC is healthy, he's a very good pitcher.

If we go with a six-man rotation all year, I think by the end of the year it will be Richards, Ohtani, Skaggs, Heaney, and two of Shoemaker, Tropeano, Barria. The point being, the best six- man rotation doesn't include Bridwell and Ramirez.

Has JMF spent any time at the ML level?  maybe they are just trying to keep all his options available whereas Schimpf clock is already going.

Tropeano and Barria are good. But beyond them, our depth doesn't really exist, so we're already kind of on the ropes here. We need Heaney back, and we'll need those two to pitch well, or Shoe to get back healthy.

Great teams are never really out of a game. The Angels can score runs in bunches, either by the long ball or providing continuous pressure on the opposition until they make a mistake (like the A's did last night).
The Angels defense prevents runs from being put on the board. They get outs every night in places no one else does.
The Angels rotation can be very effective for six innings a night when healthy.
And while the bullpen appears to be an adventure, you can't argue with the fact that despite the unproven nature of our relievers, the sheer depth we have with Eduardo Paredes, Dayan Diaz, Felix Pena, Akeel Morris and Miguel Almonte suggests that the Angels should find some combination that works.
And early returns on Jim Johnson, Noe Ramirez, Luke Bard and Key Middleton look very promising.

This one is a head-scratcher for me.
I think the Colorado Rockies are the dumbest team in baseball.
They have Ryan McMahon, David Dahl and Raimel Tapia all major league ready. And instead, they decide to play Gerardo Parra and Carlos Gonzalez.
Desmond should be starting in LF with Dahl in RF and McMahon at 1B and Tapia being speed off the bench.
I'm not a Rockies fan, actually if I root for anyone in the NL West it's the Padres. But I just laugh when teams keep their top prospects in bench roles or in AAA, even after hitting .350 there.

    @SuperTroopers @totdprods
If we're lucky, Jahmai could be ready to play 2B in 2019. Also, I think the Angels would consider not picking up Valbuena's option if Matt Thaiss has a good year in 2018.
It's really exciting to think about our prospects impacting the 2019/2020 roster. Fletcher at utility infielder, Jones at 2B and backup OF, Thaiss at 1B, Barria and Canning in the rotation, and the bullpen having some options like Paredes, Morris, and Abraham.
That figures to be the largest influx of prospect talent this team has benefited from in over a decade, since Kendrick, Aybar, Weaver, Mathis, Wood etc.... Obviously they all didn't pan out but it was still a huge wave of talent.

And without increasing payroll or having a fire sale. The possibilities are endless when you have a GM that makes the right moves.

Unfortunate because Meyer had truly turned the corner before getting injuries. He was looking like a legitimate ace.
I think since Alex is out of options, they'll bring him back as a reliever, for at least the first year. Then if he proves he's healthy, thry can visit moving him back into the rotation (I mean, with that kind of upside you can't pass up that chance). If it works, great, if not, there's always the bullpen.
Personally, I'd bring back Garrett. He's close with Trout and Kole, part of the fabric of this team and is the leader of that pitching staff. They'll have about 25 million coming off the books (15-ish after raises in arbitration).
They can extend Richards and Maldonado and get away with raising their payroll only 5-10 million or so.
