I have a feeling this guy will be another Hideki Irabu.

If the rays were to make the trade for Howie & Trumbo for Price, their net savings salary wise might be enticing enough.

For a couple of months now i have wondered who the team would target this off season. A young, under control starting pitcher who could start right away for the Angels. And have the ability to move up in the rotation in a couple of years. Several times i have checked out rosters of all the teams to find a guy that would fit that mold. The guy that i pin pointed was Shelby Miller. Whether or not the Angels can trade for him is another story. Not sure the Angels have the trade pieces to pull it off. So hopefully, Dipoto can pull it off.

When with the angels, guys in the pen considered Percy as an extra coach of sorts. Many said Erstad was the leader of the position players, and Percy was the leader of the pitchers.

If the Angels don't hire Percy, i would not be surprised to see the Padres get him.

He will probably go back to being a minor league team owner.

I can understand getting this guy to round out the AAA roster, but to give this guy a roster spot?

Our starting pitchers in 2002 were not very good either. They just had a knack of being able to get to the 6 inning and keep us in the game. Then let the pen and the hitters take over. The Reds starters during the "Big Red Machine " days were also that way. I have always though , as a rule, that the most balanced team wins. Pitching, hitting defense. etc.

The Astro's alone pretty much killed our season.

Have him coach @ IE. Then if the staff falters at the beginning of the year, fire butcher and bring in Percy.

The free agent market for starting pitchers sucks. I have to believe that the best way to strengthen the rotation will be finding a couple of organizations with a lot of depth. Then make deals for a couple of young arms mlb ready. Use the free agency to find some bullpen arms, and to fill in any holes in the position players resulting from those trades.

Has anyone kept a running total of how many games the pen has blown? I think i ran out of fingers and toes trying to keep count back in May.

I first remember the team as LA Angels. I don't think the change in name is a big deal. The only changes i want to see is the product on the field, the Stadium rebuilt or refurbished, and the halo put back on the caps.

He was quoted in an article i read that if he was traded, the odds of him resigning here might not be good. So i would keep him.
