So looks like they took the savings from those two, plus Chris Clark, to get the extra $ for Wimmer.

I don't really have any expectations from the pitchers they drafted outside of Minacci as a setup guy, maybe closer down the road... but the Angels really need to have Schanuel and a couple other position players from this draft really hit and produce in the big leagues. 
I feel this is a boom or bust type draft for the Angels. So far all of the prospect evaluators are down on the Angels draft. Here's hoping the Angels are smarter than they are. 

Interesting that Schanuel got the full bonus. The Angels obviously really like this kid and his performance in college was pretty legendary. 

The horrific throw we made in the second game of that d backs series when the angels were up 1-0 and let a run score instead of ending the inning, was the last straw for me. 
 
you can’t even make a little league throw across the diamond? Ridiculous. That, paired with the atrocious offensive production and inability to stay on the field. We just can’t get anything right the last 10–15 years.

I don’t understand paying full #11 slot value for a guy projected to go near the end of the 1st round.

We’re about to enter my favorite part of the season.  The @John Smith part of the season. 

I really liked last year's draft. He looked a little risky, but had some elite contact skills and appeared to be a near-MLB ready guy who was solid all-around at an immediate position of need. Schanuel is kinda there, but, I dunno, 1B doesn't seem nearly as valuable as filling as SS is with the first pick of a draft. Joyce had a ton of hype as being one of the hardest throwers in history. DiChiara had a ton of power. There was at least something exciting about a couple of those.

Madden and Dana seemed like really, really savvy draft picks to shore up some potential high-end starting help, even if they were further away and held some risk. 

This crop just seems pretty safe at first blush.
