Nevin knows Sanchez so if he wants him then let's roll. Perry has basically put all the underachievers on notice from last year. Rendon, Fletcher, Walsh, Stassi, Adell, Moniak, Velazquez, etc and brought depth/competition for all of them. The free ride Angels' veterans had in the past where they would be penciled in regardless of performance are over.

I think Moniak drew quite a bit of wrath from Phillies fans who had high expectations of him as the #1 draft pick.  We acquired him already knowing that he was basically a failed prospect who still had some potential but not a ton.  I think if another team acquired Adell, they'd likely have the same low expectations that we do of Moniak and probably not care too much if it doesn't pan out.
The key thing is that a lot of fans thought Adell would be a cornerstone of this franchise for years to come, so to see him struggle mightily and fall short, I think that has led to him being more of a target than other prospects.

Elite defense, petco park murders him. Look at the splits for his away stats plus his defense and there’s potential there. I think the same of cronenworth when I look at his home/away splits. So many hitters have gone there and done poorly.
Sign Bauer and I’d do Suarez+Walsh for Kim.

I'm still holding out hope that the Angels and Padres can work a trade out for Kim. My two favorite teams, and admittedly, Kim was underutilized by San Diego before. He provided them with depth, which they ended up needing in the wake of Tatis' idiocy.
He still doesn't have an everyday role there, which is a shame, but could play about 50-75% of the time, which is still too little given his age, upside and salary.
Not sure what a trade would look like there, but it would be awesome to see what he could do with a full season of at bats. Maybe 20 HR and a gold glove.

excellent defender at SS.  27 with two years of control.  The mutual option is a fart in a stiff wind because he's gonna decline that.  The bat is solid yet not gonna knock your socks off.  You'd think he might have a little more upside at the plate because he's still fairly new to mlb but his exit velo is in the bottom 10% of the league so I wouldn't expect more than we've seen.  Well above average sprint speed.  Very good plate discipline which is one area that could improve.
Would I move Suarez for him?  Yes.  Would I include Neto in the deal?  Heck no.  Per the reports, SD wants controllable pitching and I would argue that Suarez should be enough but I bet you'd need to include Bush as well.  I'm not sure that makes sense for the Angels right now.

personally, i find it difficult to believe he wouldn't be better than the available FA SP, and it's impossible to believe he wouldn't out perform 750k. the guy may or may not be a lot of things, but i know for a fact he's prideful and prideful in his performance.

I think we'd be getting the best version of himself... at least on the field. Given what we know of him I think we'd see an extremely motivated, hungry, even angry version of Bauer eager to prove the Dodgers and the rest of MLB wrong. For potentially the league minimum there is no faster way of improving this team to bona vide WS contenders. It's a no brainer if we want to give ourselves the best chance to win the world series in a franchise defining year in many respects.
We should also be near the top of his list to play. Same city, can stick it to the Dodgers right up the freeway, fan of Trout/Ohtani. One of the main storylines of MLB is when are we going to see Trout and Ohtani win in the playoffs, it seems like Bauer's style to think of himself as the guy that can make that happen. He's playing for the league min where ever he goes and is gone in a year so I think this is actually perfect if Perry/Nevin can make it happen clubhouse wise and PR wise.

They also take about 1500 plate appearances from the group that produced -7.0 WAR last year.
WAR costs 10m per.  probably more now as I haven't seen the calc in awhile.  You get half of that -7.0 taken away plus the 5 ish they're projected for and you're getting around 8 wins by adding those guys.  Conservatively.  That's the impact of depth for this team.  It doesn't work like that for every team but when you have almost no position players in the upper minors who could step in and capably fill a spot with 0-1 wins, it's a huge delta.  Would you spend 30m a year for 8 wins?

A crowded infield situation. Walsh could be the odd man out. He has an option so he could be playing for a roster spot in spring training.

One of the biggest issues in '22 was position player depth. Perry Minasian said that his goal this offseason was to correct that issue & so far he's done a great job adding Urshela, Drury & Renfroe. Add in Tyler Anderson & Carlos Estevez & it has been a solid offseason thus far.

I'd be shocked to see them trade him if we are firmly in the lead for something - i.e. wild card.  You'd be punting on this season.  As we have seen, wild card teams routinely make deep runs into the playoffs and win it all.  They would keep him, offer him a gigantic contract, and if he ultimately leaves, what can you really say/do?
I think they will trade him if they are not in the playoff hunt, but I do not think they will trade him if they are in the playoff race.  There is also something about him where even if we offered him, say, 500 million right now, I am not sure he would take it.  I think he values winning way, way more than money.

I always come back to that.  The Dodgers wanted Ward and Rengifo.  Look at Ward now.  Rengifo turned a corner last year, and he's still only 25.  He can further improve.

Perry has done amazing this offseason given the limited resources we thought we had. The FA contracts have been good value compared to the market too. The trades didn't cost us anything. Let's be honest we can't count on Rendon, whatever he gives us we will take but we need to build a position player squad 13 deep and we have.
    Ward
    Trout
    Ohtani
    Rendon
    Renfroe
    Rengifo
    Drury
    O'Hoppe
    Fletcher
    Bench:
    Stassi - C
    Walsh - 1B/LF
    Urshela - IF
    Moniak - OF
