My name is Gary, born in 59, and I've been an Angel fan since they started. Go Gene Autry!!!!!
I'm a senior source inspector with a company that is extending our travel options to space so if anyone would like to nominate a fellow board member to be shipped off on a one-way trip to Mars let me know.

If the season goes like the spring has thus far, we are on pace for 108 wins!!!
-
Ya gotta admit, this would make closers earn their money.
-
Only time will tell whether this was the right way to go, but I'm happy with what we have. I really like the defense and Cozart may prove to be the better hitter. Moustakas just doesn't strike me as fitting in with this team as well as Cozart.

Mychal Givens of the Orioles was a failing shortstop prospect and successfully made the transition to pitcher.
-
Particularly if Ohtani is successful, I could see this becoming a trend across baseball.

Well, you know what they say: "When you're at the bottom, there is no place to go but up."
Except in this case it isn't true.

I think that was Jeff Leonard.
Ah, so it was. Well, my memory prefers to think Chili did it so I'll stick with that. Thanks for the info.

This is hilarious. Nothing like a swift kick to Dipotto's balls.

I added Simmons, Abbott & Chili Davis, just because Chili used to be a great "clutch" ballplayer, but I always thought it was awesome when he'd break his bat over his leg after a strikeout. Loved the passion he played with.
Chili doing the home run trot with his flap down always made me chuckle.

From his nose to his toes was his strike zone.
Nope. From bouncing five feet in front of the plate to a foot over his head was his strike zone. He could hammer, and did hammer, everything within reach. Trout is the best, but Vladdy Daddy was the most exciting player to watch ever. And by ever I mean EVER.

Agreed. While I'd pay it if necessary, there's gotta be a consideration for injury. Knocks on every bit of wood in the house. No way you'll find someone to insure that kind of contract, right?
One of the reasons big league clubs are reluctant to go over three years on a free agent contract is because that is the point where insurance costs escalate.

That's fair. This highlight reel didn't say which year these were from. I suppose those knee surgeries probably had some effect.
-
Earlier today I watched a defensive highlight reel from Machado. It's hard to imagine him playing next to Simmons. There are better 3B bats out there, but considering his D, I think he is first on my list for this team.

Can I change my name to Tank?

How long before they fire Showalter, even though he isn't the GM or farm director?
This is both Showalter and Duquette's last year under contract. I don't know if either will be fired before then, but will they be renewed?

I've been reading a little about the Orioles lately. That franchise seems to be in deep trouble and appear to have no coherent plan moving forward.

See what happens? He's already the best Angel in history, and not by a little.
Give me a five year extension and he gets his own mountain, lol.

Putting in the money for the franchise to come into existence is pretty important.
Kind of like George Washington as President
He was the first.
Autry went to the expansion meetings with the hopes of coming back with the television rights. He came back with the team. Our George Washington is an apt description.

Pretty bold! I'll be curious to see if last year's breakout is sustainable. He'd been trending in that direction and his swing has changed in the way he explained. Obviously Angel Stadium won't play as friendly and Cincy, but he could come close.
I originally wrote >6.0 WAR and 8th in MVP voting but I decided to raise my degree of difficulty points. I want that $100
-
Cozart puts up >7.0 WAR and is 3rd in MVP voting

In all fairness, Grichuk is still young (he will be 26 next season), he put up an outstanding season at 23, and he maintains a positive defensive value. It's not unreasonable to think his best years may still be ahead of him.
