  1. Curious who is playing in fantasy baseball this year and what does your team look like. Just had my draft this past Sunday, and I think it went decently but still feel like I could have done a little better. 12 teams in my league and 23 players per team, so teams are a little more diluted for me this year than it was last year with only 10 teams. Here's what I came out with: C - Jonathan Lucroy 1B - Victor Martinez 2B - Ben Zobrist 3B - Kris Bryant SS - Danny Santana OF - Michael Brantley OF - Jacoby Ellsbury OF - Jorge Soler UTIL - Steve Pearce Bench: C - Wilson Ramos OF - Lorenzo Cain OF - Yasmany Tomas 2B/3B - Brett Lawrie SP - Clayton Kershaw SP - Adam Wainwright SP - Masahiro Tanaka SP - Hisashi Iwakuma SP - Ian Kennedy SP - James Paxton RP - Craig Kimbrel RP - Koji Uehara RP - Sean Doolittle RP - Kelvin Herrera I have a little too many OFers, and I feel Doolittle is expendable, so I'm trying to work a couple trades.
  2. Agree Also, Lucroy seems like he shouldn't be on this list. I hope he lives up to it this year since I picked him fairly early for my Fantasy team, but I don't see him as a Top 25
  3. I watched It Follows in theaters over the weekend. Pretty solid 7/10 Been waiting for it since I heard great stuff out of TIFF last year, but just barely getting it's release now. It's a genuinely effective horror movie as it is actually creepy. It's premise is interesting and takes advantage of it. Great John Carpenter inspired score as well. One of the better recent horror movies.
  4. The Thin Blue Line American Movie The Act of Killing Tim's Vermeer An Honest Liar Life Itself Man on Wire Jodorowsky's Dune Senna Mistaken for Strangers Stories We Tell Anvil: The Story of Anvil
  5. Ended up drafting both Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler pretty late in my fantasy draft yesterday. I expected Bryant to not start in the MLB, hoping it doesn't take too long to get him up though.
  6. Howie Mandell might be stiff competition for that #1 spot though.
  7. I'm guessing Howard Hawks is up there and Howard the Duck
  8. Nice. Started following you already. Welcome aboard. It's a site that's kind of easy to get addicted to, at least for me it is.
  9. I think I've mentioned it before on here when I first started using it a few years back, but I don't know if anyone uses it here and I'm kinda curious Would recommend it. It's a nice way to keep entries of what you seen, create lists, give ratings, write reviews and follow people that have similar tastes to get some quick recommendations. It's also a pretty nice site visually. Here's a link to mine: http://letterboxd.com/samsanch3z/ Wouldn't mind following some AW members on there if any of you start using it.
  10. Outside of maybe Bedrosian, none of the bullpen issues have been from anyone who figures to be a major part of our bullpen this year
  11. Enjoyed him in the 70s version Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a favorite of mine. RIP Spock
  12. Blazing Saddles for sure with Young Frankenstein in 2nd. I enjoy Spaceballs, but I don't have the nostalgic connection for it which I believe probably helps a lot in its popularity with others.
  13. I think they're giving too much credit to the AL East there judging by the last place team still manages 78 wins there. The AL East and AL Central look weak to me. I could see the best record in the AL coming out of one of those two divisions, probably the East but mainly because of the weaknesses of those divisions and that the AL West will probably be beating up on each other too much for someone to pull away with 95+ wins. Similarly, I think NL East looks pretty weak outside of the Nationals and maybe the Marlins where I don't really see the Dodgers having a better record than the Nationals come the end of the season especially with the greatly improved Padres, the Giants, and slightly improved D-Backs.
  14. Not quite a favorite but figured it could use some mentioning. Recent Netflix doc Battered Bastards of Baseball is a good watch.
  15. It's a lame term, but yes Killer Joe is one of the movies that started the recent "McConaissance" or whatever the hell they've referred to it as. I kinda of think it started slightly with Lincoln Lawyer in 2011 which was decent, and then kicked into full effect in 2012 when he was in Bernie, Killer Joe, Magic Mike (yes, it's not terrible, and he is pretty great in it). Then finally reaching completely peak in 2013-2014.
  16. A lot of it seems to be politics. It's either to put someone in a category they are more likely to win in or to be able to recognize someone in another category where they might not be likely to in another. Or also to put a bigger name in a more prominent category. It's weird It's the reason why Denzel Washington was nominated for Best Leading Role for Training Day when technically Ethan Hawke was main character. Also, you could argue JK Simmons played a more prominent role in Whiplash than Steve Carell did in Foxcatcher (Channing Tatum is technically the lead actor), but Simmons got nominated for Supporting whereas Carell got nominated for Lead (thus taking away a potential spot for Jake Gyllenaall in Nightcrawler).
  17. Don't for get PSH in Capote or Whitiker in Last King of Scotland
  18. I agree he probably deserved a nomination but not above Gylenhaal who was also slighted.Above Cooper, and maybe above Carell who probably could have just as easily fit into Best Supporting role as I feel he had less screen time than Tatum but I guess they wanted to split up Ruffalo and Carell. I also think Miles Teller wouldn't have been a bad choice for Whiplash.
  19. It was a 12 year wait for her for this nomination for Boyhood. Would be nice to see her get.
  20. It also insinuated Cotillard took Aniston's spot because Cotillard is an Oscar favorite. Cotillard was great in Two Days, One Night. Surprised that she was nominated because it was a French movie but nice to see that. I hadn't seen anyone talk about Aniston before that article.
  21. Golden Globes aren't typically in correlation with the Oscars but the fact that Birdman couldn't even beat Grand Budapest Hotel for Best Picture for a Comedy leads me to believe it won't be winning the Best Picture oscar. I think Boyhood will probably be the favorite there. I do see Keaton winning Best Actor and Inarritu going head to head with Linklater for Best Director. I also don't see Norton beatint JK Simmons or Emma Stone beating Patricia Arquette.
