Gameday Thread: 8/26 vs. Tigers
Sam Sanchez replied to Ray McKigney's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
He also can officially kiss becoming the first 4-consecutive year Runs leader ever. It wasn't that long ago where he was leading the Majors in that category. Now he trails Josh Donaldson by 15, which is nearly impossible to catch-up to with only a little over a month to go. These are all individual feats I know, but if Trout is doing well, so does the team. -
Gameday Thread: 8/26 vs. Tigers

Remember when Trout was leading the league in HRs by a decent margin? He's officially not even in the Top 5 anymore. -
Yup, A-Rod has Albert beat by well over 100 still in that case, if that's what was meant.

Trout Steals Harper's GF - Distraction Alert
Sam Sanchez replied to Eric's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
There's nothing to believe. It's pretty clear she's joking with Harper with this comment: "Sorry Bryce, I'm cheating on you... Had so much fun with @MikeTrout @NewEraCap @Angels throwing the first pitch!" Agdal wrote on Instagram beneath a selfie with Trout. She's just nudging Harper. Maybe if she would have put quotation marks around "cheating", people would have caught that more obviously? -
Since no else mentioned it....Nelson Cruz has 36 HRs. He's quickly passed both Trout and Pujols. Not to mention Pujols 33 is also tied with Trout and Donaldson. Pujols isn't the active leader.

Since getting called up in late June (over a month and a half now), Cron is now batting .349, wtih a .390 OBP, and 1.023 OPS. If you expand what he's done in that time frame for a full season, it projects to 38 HRs and 98 RBIs (in just 500 ABs), despite getting limited at bats due to platooning. I'm not crazy enough to think that's what kind of player he is at all, but the hate and criticism I see leveled at the guy on a daily basis is not at all consistent with the production we've been receiving from him since getting called back up. He's essentially been the equivalent of adding a "big bat" in that frame. Will he keep it up? Probably not, but he's been a bright spot as of late.

Gameday Thread: 8/14 @ Royals - Aybar Out Again
Sam Sanchez replied to Ray McKigney's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
Is Weaver getting squeezed? According to my phone, the first two pitches looked like they were in the strike zone to Morales -
Yeah, that might be cutting it a little close. I fairly recently saw The Martian, and that wasn't completely done yet with only 3 months out, but at least it was done filming it seems, just stuff in post that needs to be done.

Seems to be a favorite for Tarantino to release on Christmas back since I believe Jackie Brown. David O. Russell's new film Joy comes out that day. And also The Revenant which I might be looking forward to more than Hateful Eight comes out the same day as well. It's a fairly packed Christmas.

My twin cousins turn 24 today too. Mike Trout is the greatest player in baseball. What have they done what their lives? Nothin'!

I know we have 17 games next in a row without a day off where 10 of which are against the Blue Jays, Royals, and Orioles. The other 7 are against the White Sox, which might not be a cakewalk either. So we'll know a lot more about the Angels in the next 2 and a half weeks.
-
Not sure I'd call .360 (last 7 games) or .289 (last 2 weeks) a slump. Point taken with everyone else though.

I've read what Scotty posted. I distinctly remember reading a headline saying that the Dodger Front Office told Puig he wasn't being dealt or something like that a couple days ago. Actually, I think this is it: http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/writer/jon-heyman/25250059/amid-growing-speculation-dodgers-reassure-puig-he-wont-be-traded

We're talking top of the rotation starters now?

Astros acquire LHP Scott Kazmir from Oakland
Sam Sanchez replied to bloodbrother's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
Kaz faded in the 2nd half of last year. This doesn't seem too concerning to me. -
Angels hitters today: **** it, let's hit!
-
Nice. Sounds like an awesome experience. My brother apparently got to throw out the first pitch today to I believe Hector Santiago. Had no idea until he text me a picture.

In the comments section in FanGraphs somebody pointed out that Trout, some time next year will likely hit a career WAR of 45 at the age of 24. Kirby Puckett, made the HALL OF FAME with a career WAR of 45. Kirby Puckett debuted at the age of 24. Both of these are ridiculous. We're lucky to have Trout.

Greinke: can someone please remind me...
Sam Sanchez replied to howie's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
If Greinke can get past the Mets in his next start, it's possible the Angels might have to face Greinke who would be going for the record on July 31st. Though, that would be on 6 days rest, if he keeps his normal spot in the rotation. It seems more likely that they might bump him up in the rotation and pitch him on normal rest on July 29th against the A's. He would avoid the Angels altogether in that scenario. I hope Greinke can get past the Mets, I would love to see the Angels have a shot at him. -
"I think he was okay. When you're getting five to six inches off of the plate, you better win the game," Harper said. "For me, I don't think he was very tough. He's a great pitcher, he does what he does, but when you're getting six inches off the plate it's pretty tough to face him." Bryce Harper on Greinke after Greinke's scoreless outing.

The best all star teams of all time?
Sam Sanchez replied to The Ghost of Bob Starr's topic in LA Angels | MLB Daily
I'd imagine it takes into account the full roster and not having to consistently bench certain players, or A possible everyday starting line up of: 1. Dee Gordon (2B) 2. Andrew McCutchen (OF) 3. Bryce Harper (OF) 4. Paul Goldschmidt (1B) 5. Giancarlo Stanton (OF) 6. Troy Tulowitzski (SS) 7. Nolan Arenado (3B) 8. Buster Posey © 9. Todd Frazier (DH) With others like Molina, Rizzo, Gonzalez, Bryant, Upton, etc... as backups as well. To me, looks quite a bit stronger than: 1. Jose Altuve (2B) (Dozier or Kipnis, wouldn't be bad options either) 2. Josh Donaldson (3B) 3. Mike Trout (OF) 4. Miguel Cabrera (1B) 5. Prince Fielder (DH) (Nelson Cruz also available) 6. Adam Jones (OF) 7. J.D. Martinez (OF) (Lorenzo Cain also maybe?) 8. Stephen Vogt © 9. Jose Iglesias (SS) Not to mention a rotation that could consist of 5 of the following: Clayton Kershaw Zack Grienke Max Scherzer Madison Bumgarner Gerrit Cole Jacob DeGrom The AL Rotation wouldn't be bad either though, with a rotation that would have 5 of these: Felix Hernandez Chris Sale David Price Sonny Gray Dallas Keuchel Chris Archer Hector Santiago The biggest discrepancy in my opinion is the offense.
