  1. Angels vs. Orioles, though I do not remember what season it was. I am guessing 1987. I remember nothing about the game; I remember being amazed at the size of the stadium. My dad was a kid in the San Gabriel Valley when the Dodgers moved to L.A., so of course he became a Dodgers fan. But he bought me an Angels hat and some baseball cards at that Angels game, and thus I became an Angels fan, even though we lived much closer to the Dodgers than Angels. We would go to far more Dodgers games than Angels during my childhood - probably by a factor of 10 - but he never tried to encourage me or bribe me to become a Dodgers fan.
  2. It's rare that I can't stand one player from a single incident. I didn't loathe Verlander after the Aybar incident because it was in the heat of the moment and Verlander was pissed. I didn't care about Yordano Ventura throwing a bitch fit with Trout a few years back because that was just weird. But I hated Seager from the moment he pulled that crap with Weaver. (And also because his face looks like a vagina.)
  3. I gave my dad one of those yesterday. I thought he would love it but I don't think he really cared. The first thing he asked was "Does this have protection from someone stealing my credit card information?" (He's at that point where he is retired and doesn't do much anymore except worry about things that could go wrong.) I had his initials monogrammed otherwise I would offer to return it for him.
  4. Literally watched both last night. Home Alone and Bad Santa today. Merry Christmas, AW.
  5. Yucatan-style roasted pork, first marinated in citrus and annatto, then roasted in banana leaves.
  6. I was torn between cochinita pibil and lasagna for dinner but now you've helped me decide. Cochinita.
  7. That part made me laugh out loud
  8. If Trout and Rendon are healthy, and Loup and Iglesias are close to their career norms, all we need is a mediocre pitching staff. Now, I may be getting ahead of my self here...
  9. I remember in 3rd grade our P.E. teacher had everyone rotate positions each inning. I have not seen that at the Major-League level but I'm down for trying it out.
  10. I saw him in the minors at two different levels and I was absolutely sure of it. I really hope he doesn't turn into the next Heaney, i.e. the guy about whom I say at the start of every season "Well, maybe this is the year he figures it out."
  11. "You don't wanna go to Anaheim, Robbie. Those fans make fun of you when you quit on them mid-season."
  12. I will never, ever stop loving baseball. But my love for the Angels isn't what it used to be. I'm fine with the team not overpaying for free agent pitching. But if you won't acquire pitching in that manner, you have two options: develop your own or trade for someone else's. They are unable to do the former. If they refuse to do the latter... what is their plan? The same as it's been the last few seasons?
  13. And how many World Series appearances it guaranteed. I remember one idiot* set the O/U at 2.5. *me
  14. I would be fine with the Angels trading anyone on the roster if it meant I could watch the team in October again. No one is off-limits to me. (Not that I trust their ability to judge pitching.)
  15. I remember writing this years ago and you agreeing: I would rather have had that one more year of Howie than all the years we got of Heaney.
  16. Have any of you ever attended a stadium/arena to watch a game on television? And if so, was it fun? I don't really get it, but then again I'm not a particularly social person.
