Diamondbacks Part Ways With Pitching Coach Mike Butcher
By Jeff Todd | September 30, 2019 at 3:12pm CDT
The Diamondbacks have announced that they will not retain pitching coach Mike Butcher. Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray of The Athletic first tweeted the news.
Butcher had been in his role since the start of the 2016 campaign, so he pre-dated manager Torey Lovullo and the organization’s primary front office leadership. He has previously served as the pitching coach for the Rays and Angels.
Though he was able to survive the major 2016-17 organizational shakeup, and help a few notable pitchers turn in quality campaigns, Butcher evidently wasn’t seen as the right voice moving forward. His departure isn’t part of a broader wave of change, as the remainder of the 2019 coaching staff is expected to return for 2020.

Just get Bergman out. That's all I care about when watching tonight's game. Trout winning the MVP would sure help heal some of those wounds from this season....

Defense is possibly the hardest facet of the game to measure statistically and yet the easiest to qualify/project using traditional means.
Marsh is possibly already the best defensive OFer in the organization.

Again, all the more reason to shift Upton away from LF and over to 1B/DH.  The Angels didn't sign him for his defense, good left fielders are a dime a dozen, but middle of the order bats, not so much.
Put him at 1B and DH, let him rest his legs, extend his career through his mid-30's and open up LF for Adell and shift Marsh to RF. Flanking Trout with Adell and Marsh would give the Angels the top defensive outfield unit in baseball, help our pitchers out, and would insert some exciting speed and power to the bottom half of the lineup.
Ohtani DH's 60% of the games. The 40% he's not in for, slide Upton to DH and give Albert his starts at 1B. Anytime an outfielder needs a break, shift Upton back out to the outfield and get Albert another start at 1B.
As much as he's a leader in the clubhouse, Albert has a .312 OBP and is headed into his age 40 season. The fact that he'll get to play 50% of the time on a contending team in this situation is there most here could be ask for really.

they also have a wall with all of the signatures of players they've made bats for. I could have spent an hour just going through this part. there was a separate display just for HOF players who used a Louisville slugger.

Do they take into consideration that never once does Trout get to face the Angels' pitching staff?
