I am not a fan of Cowart by any means but he has the hot bat so sitting him out make sure no sense.

I think it could be because Trout is playing so well at Angels Stadium so the park factor is screwed. Or maybe the Angels pitchers give up so many gopher balls at home that the park factor is all inflated.

Or playing in 2000 at Coors Field with a park factor over 130.

Probably not but I hope 2014 is his most "disappointing" season for another decade. This place would be panicking if Trout has a season like McCutchen did last year.

    I agree......
What is so cool about these type of players, Eppler has demonstrated an ability to find them with some consistency.  Those type of players will always be around and I am looking forward to a time when the Angels will be really good and Eppler is still finding those types of players.  It brings back memories of the Cardinals and Dave Duncan often taking pitchers other teams deemed finished.

Him and Petit were/are of the few unsung heros of this season. In response to AS mentioning what a great find Petit was, just wanted to give Hernandez credit for the job he did this season as an Angel as well.

Still got to play the game. It's not like MLB is handing the Angels w's over the Phillies without having to play them this series. I'm not an Angels fan (used to be both an Angels and Dodgers fan) but still have to give the Halos credit for not taking the Phillies for granted, even though they do have some nice players.

Well, sort of because they both are power hitters but I think Martinez is a better player than Stanton though. They are both     not exactly good defenders but they do have good arms. But where I think Stanton is not better than Martinez is the ability to hit for average. Martinez has hit over .300 twice prior to this season while Stanton has never even batted .300 in a season yet. Martinez won't get the same amount of money because, like you stated, he is not young.

I don't know why but I can sense you wanting Martinez this offseason. I think he would be great for the Angels. They do need some protection for Trout and Martinez can be that guy. Yes, Angels Stadium is not exactly a fun place to hit at but Martinez put up big home run totals despite playing at pitcher friendly Comerica. Although their outfield defense will take a hit if you replace Martinez with Maybin.

Only time Cron will be in the lineup against a right handed starting pitcher is someone is placed on the DL or is considered day to day at this point. He hits better against righties than lefties in his career!

I like Martinez but he probably is not the ideal use of our payroll. I think we need a front-end starter more than Martinez.
Basically the Angels have enough prospect capital to land one big player. The rest they will have to make up through free agency spending or low-level acquisitions that have a lot more risk built-in to them. In the end I can see them swinging one big trade and 1-2 larger free agent signings and then the rest need to be craftily filled by Eppler. Even then I would still be worried about how much we utilize our resources in the next few months before Opening Day 2018.

Brandon Wood deserves to be the poster child for great prospects who failed.
In regards to Trout, assuming he doesn't get injured or struggle, I am saying over.

Marlins are probably going to ask the Angels to include Trout in the deal. Trout for Stanton? Heck no, Stanton can't do anything but hit for power and draw walks. Basically Trumbo but with a good walk rate.

JustATroutFan got a reaction from jordan in Angels' August (18-10) = Do or Die Month for 2017
Damn, cannot believe that we are in August already. Anyways, I feel like this month is going to make or break the Angels season. This team has been playing .500 baseball for the whole year but they will really need everyone to step up starting this month. A bad month of August, like in 2015, will end the Angels hopes of making the postseason, as a WC.     A decent month that results in about a .500 record will give them slim hopes of making the postseason but this team has not been able to put a long winning streak together so odds are not in their favors. However, a good August will no doubt keep them in the chase. Obviously, Trout is going to need to keep on playing like a star this month and in September but  guys like Pujols and Calhoun need to rediscover their productive forms. And the starting rotation in particular. Should get a boost if their best starters be able to pitch at some point. So far so good for Pujols in August, even if it is only one game. Pujols' best month of his career has been August, a month in which he has posted the highest batting average, OBP, and slugging percentage in his career.

I wonder the same thing.  If I were him I'd retire with either the .300 lifetime average or 3000 hits.  I don't think he can get both.  He's got more money than he'll ever need.

A lot of times, I wonder what he is thinking in his head. And it is a shame because he used to be a terrific manager. Pushed all the right buttons back in the day.
