I think five the Angels do that, Hermosillo will have had to have an amazing year in AA, and they'd do it just to get his feet wet and get the nerves out of the way so he could come in the next season at some point and perform.

He's a free agent coming up this year and he's one I wouldn't mind seeing come back to Anaheim. 

And I'm sure we would have wildly enjoyed Santana's 80 game suspension and Vargas' Tommy John Surgery too.

No. Check in again later in the season.  Santiago sucked when he was traded, and Santana was inconsistent at best. You don't get a do-over because they've had a few good starts.

In essence, I think they're saying that Pujols actual skill level with the bat is more like the Statcast-estimated .298/.351/.544, but because of his inchworm foot-speed, he's greatly reduced from that. But surely the gap can't only be foot-speed. The article mentions "reasons" there is a difference, baserunning being one of them, but doesn't suggest any others.

They're better off packaging him for an elite arm when time comes (they're my dark horse candidate for Quintana) and I can't see anyone on the Angels short of Shoe, Skaggs, Richards, or Bedrosian being on the Cubs' radar when it comes to acquiring help.
