bruin5 got a reaction from Duren, Duren in Ippei fired by Dodgers after being accused of theft by Ohtani’s attorney’s
If Manfred has access to FBI evidence, and it’s compelling, then he has to take a strong stance. We’re talking Federal crimes and a violation of MLB players association agreement. If Pete Rose got a lifetime ban (who I know bet on baseball games) then what does Ohtani merit.
And, since Ohtani was kind enough to defer his earnings, what are the potential damages from being suspended for 1 or 2 years?
There is probably a plea deal in his future as well as the FBI will probably go hard on this because they like the headlines.
Of course, Manfred has never been accused of doing the right thing…

bruin5 got a reaction from Redondo in A’s release renderings of new Las Vegas domed stadium that resembles famous Sydney Opera House
So, they will spend probably over $1 billion to provide shade on 100 degree nights? I’m not a fan of enclosed ballparks, but this design makes no sense given the location.

I kinda like it in the sense that it fits everything fake about Vegas.

bruin5 got a reaction from Angel Oracle in Angels sign Jose Cisnero (1 year, $1.75 million) - DFA Soto
That would work as well.

Agree 100%. I would rather look at 2024 as a developmental year instead of pretending that Snell and Bellinger make us a WC contender.

I’m in therapy now so I’m feeling better.

Completely stupid comment. However, I am going to a safe space tomorrow to share my pronouns, discuss what has triggered me, and state my truth.

bruin5 got a reaction from ELEVEN in Angels trade David Fletcher and Max Stassi to the Braves for Evan White and Tyler Thomas
Funny some of the comments. If we made a swap of 2 marginal players (one of whom may be a reasonable bullpen piece) and received Fletcher and Stassi, who both increase the payroll, this thread would be white hot nuclear.
Not unusual, most fans overvalue their own team’s players, especially those that are likeable.

I was in favor of trading Ohtani but I can’t fault Moreno and Minasian trying to make a go of it and try to win and keep Ohtani.

bruin5 got a reaction from Taylor in Perry and Jerry
A couple more thoughts on the Eppler/Minasian comparison…
1. It’s still early, but it seems like some of the international prospects that Perry brought on have shown some promise. I feel like Epper whiffed on international guys. I’m sure he won’t be signing players from the Bahamas anymore.
2. If Eppler was still GM, would Marsh have been traded for O’Hoppe? Billy seemed pretty attached to his higher level draftees. And the 1st rounder (I can’t remember his name) that they traded to the Giants was ridiculous. Especially since pitching was a much bigger need than an infielder. Now, Minasian may become enamored with his draftees as well but he seems more calculating than Eppler was.

I always thought Salmon was a guy who did his business. Not the type to display a lot of emotion. It wasn’t until the 2002 WS that I saw he could show some emotion.

And Hunter played for two great coaches. Tom Kelly and Mike Sciocsia. Both were big on fundamentals, playing smart baseball, and holding players accountable. Would definitely choose him and take a chance rather than hiring a retread.
