9 games in, it's hard to judge so far. But there are some promising returns...
1. Nava-Gentry look good enough to be depended upon for defense and OBP. It isn't GREAT, but it matches our need and fits the most convenient price possible.
2. Simmons makes contact and plays amazing defense. But we knew that.
3. Giavotella's defense is right where it needs to be, which is delightfully surprising.
4. We have speed coming off the bench. Haven't had that in years.
5. The starting pitchers are getting by so far, and relievers like Morin and Mahle are bridging the middle innings.
6. Our AAA team is stocked with talent to provide the major league team with depth. Guerra, Bedrock, Achter, Skaggs, Tropeano (now with the team), Smith, Cowart, Kubitza, Navarro, Marte, Yarbrough, Ortega, Buss... Lots of options.
