  1. How much time would he miss if they just took his left arm off? In all seriousness as others said thankfully it's not his right arm. Here's to a quick and healthy recovery.
  2. So a company with just over 200 employees before the layoffs burned through almost 200M of the loan in 2 years before the feds got involved? Glad they cut the line off but given the size of the company that loan just seems massive. I realize it's in an industry they're trying to help grow and it takes money to do that but given the price of the cars how big did they think the demand would be? I get that the cars aren't going to be cheap but I would love know what kind of pitch they gave while applying for that loan.
  3. California's population grew at a crazy rate for a while so by the time they got done expanding a freeway they probably already needed to do it again. Add in the cost of expansions and especially eminent domain and I'm guessing it's not easy to simply make bigger freeways. My commute is short and I can avoid freeways but if I ever can't like Stradling my time is worth enough to me to pay to get home quicker which is one reason I'm not opposed if the current setup isn't meeting federal requirements.
  4. You pay to drive all the time already this would just be a new twist on it. If the carpool lanes aren't doing what they're intended to do then I don't oppose something being done to rectify it.
  5. As is Silky Sullivan's? Cool place, laid back just have to be careful driving home since it's by a cop station. I like going anywhere laid back that isn't so loud with music and/or talking that you can actually talk to the people you're with. This seems to rule out most the bars in downtown HB or Newport that I went to in my 20's.
  6. So he wasn't the same pitcher later in his career as he was in the prime of his career? That's not unusual.
  7. He's averaged 214 IP's the last 4 years and has always thrived on being a guy with a deceptive delivery and very good control. This is one of those cases where I'll be concerned if he isn't producing but that hasn't been the case.
  8. Enjoy this season because the 4th book sucked by comparison and Martin has lagged ass writing and is only through book 5 of 7.
  9. I should tell that to my buddy who approaches six figures selling ad space (print and online) for a much smaller publication.
  10. When you outperform a contract why not ask for more? People who have regular jobs will ask for more money if they feel they deserve it. I read another article that said they're asking for 200K total for each episode for the family. That seems much less than some of the trashy reality stars get. I don't watch the show but the ratings are blowing competitors out of the water and they're making quite a bit less. These guys already make enough on the side to where they can hold out as long as they want.
  11. Shaun of the Dead is great. Hot Fuzz wasn't horrible but naturally you compare it to Shaun of the Dead and it's nowhere near as good. Kind of similar to how Club Dread had high expectations after Super Troopers but doesn't stack up.
  12. I like Knotts for what it is and prefer to go to Knotts Scary Farm once every few years while avoiding Disneyland like the plague.
  13. Surgeries and rehab have come a long way but there's no guarantee how quickly someone will recover or whether or not they'll be the same player. Proving that you can still cut (ADP), have that same burst or elevate (D. Rose) are big hurdles and aside from Peterson most guys take about a year to fully recover and get back to game speed. Peterson's a freak but he also had a much larger body of work in the NFL when coming back from his injury. I hope RG3 can be the same player but this guy has already had multiple knee surgeries and he's only 23. Hopefully he isn't rushed back or treated the way he was in the playoff game when everyone watching knew he wasn't right and should have been pulled.
  14. Just an FYI in the CBS league as someone else mentioned on the messageboard the draft curently says 7:30pm eastern time on Thursday. Also the draft order at least under draft central shows me with the 11th pick but Chuck's email said I had 12th. Not sure if this is due to not everyone being in or what.
  15. I think quite a few studies have shown there's little to no correlation between education spending and test scores/graduation rates. No amount of money spent on education will make up for what kids don't get at home and that's too many parents who don't get involved.
  16. Las Barcas - Mexican food place in HB. If you go during dinner or even phone an order in it will take a while but it's worth it. TK Burger - HB/CM. One of my favorite burgers. Bear Flag Fish Co - saw this mentioned on page 1 and just wanted to give it another vote. Great quality and the prices are pretty reasonable.
  17. Who cares what Wells does for the Yankees. Getting him off the roster and not having to pay the entire 42M is a great move.
  18. I'm cool with that and when I posted I had 4 in mind. I like the drafts so the more players available then the more fun it is for me. Staying on top of the waiver wire is still important but fewer keepers means teams that struggled the previous year may not be at as much of a disadvantage the next. Most teams always have so many guys you would definitely keep but some years I was flipping a coin trying to decide on the last 5+ guys. I like CBS as well but I know Kurt paid for it and I don't think it was cheap. If we need to up the fee to like $75 per team with $25 going towards the league fee I'm cool with that. I do another league in yahoo and am fine there as well.
  19. I'm interested and down for keepers but it depends how many. The old CBS league was fun and I'm thankful Kurt paid for it but the problem we had there was that we kept like 18-20 guys each year. We lost managers over the years who were replaced but if an old manager didn't keep up their roster and get guys on the waiver wire a new manager could be at a disadvantage. Keeping that many guys and the roster sizes with players in the minors meant the waiver wire was thin and you had to be on the ball. Every time I thought I would snag some up and comer or some guy who might be up in a few months Chuck seemed to have grabbed him already.
  20. I haven't had shin problems from running (knock on wood) but did have calf problems the last time I trained for a marathon. I put on some of the weight I lost a few years ago and it's mostly diet related as I still work out 5-6 days a week but sitting in front of a computer for 9+ hours a day during the week doesn't help my cause or metabolism. Training for the OC half marathon on May 5th and now that I've signed up for it I'm actually looking forward to it and don't mind running as much. Dropped a few pounds the last few weeks but still want to lose another 10-12.
  21. Just a strange story all around. Considering what cutting him cost them in cap space I think it's going to be hard to bring him back because they wanted to get him at about 8M this year. That said they were exploring the possibility of him not restructuring but with the hit they took and what they would pay someone who is still available it could be a wash for a downgrade ini 2013.
  22. Jackson has more wear and tear but if he's anything close to the player he was last year he's a big upgrade. Jackson is a dual threat while Turner was never much of a pass catcher setting a career high last year with 19 catches which is Jackson's low in a season which was his rookie year. Jackson is always seemingly dealing with an injury but the guy still made it on the field missing only 2 games the previous 4 years. Jackson signed for 3 years and 12M but only 4M is guaranteed so it's not a signing that will hurt them long term. If Jackson can stay on the field and doesn't have a major drop off which is possible as he's turning 30 this year then it's a great short term move by Atlanta to get them over the hump. Especially if Jackson doesn't crap out which is something Turner always did in Atlanta towards the end of the year becoming a non factor.
  23. I had been playing Ni No Kuni on the PS3 (RPG - anime graphics but reminiscent of old school RPG's) but haven't played in about a month due to being busy with work, helping someone move and getting things done around the house. Probably going to pick that back up this weekend. Around the holidays I started playing XCOM on the PS3 and had a lot of fun but put it down for a few months and will likely start over from the beginning. Looking forward to Gears of War coming out next week as I usually play that series with a buddy of mine on XBOX at his house.
  24. They were 13-3 last year and if it weren't for a horrible play by Moore and bad play calling by Fox in the last part of regulation they could have taken the game in which they lost to the eventual superbowl champs. I know woulda coulda shoulda but didn't but they blew it more than once in that game and it still hurts. That said they've still got needs but after going 13-3 last year they've only improved on paper. Welker is an upgrade over Stokley and supposed Rodgers-Cromartie was getting a physical a bit ago during his visit to Denver and adding him would mean their needs during the draft can be focused on safety and depth at RB/DT and going for best available.
  25. Knighton is the guy they were talking about on the ESPN boards. Not a big name but he's young and he makes DT a little bit less of a need. The next 2 years are all or nothing in Denver as Peyton's career winds down.
