  1. They could have signed Ray and Gausman but they didn't so right now it's not like the question was Scherzer or one of those two since none of them signed here. To answer Torrid's question if the Angels don't get another legit SP with #2 or higher upside this off season then I'd rather have Scherzer even at his age and being overpaid for the next 3 years. The Angels have a window right now where Trout is in his prime, Ohtani is under contract and Rendon is in his prime where they can make a run. There's still time for them to make some moves and I just hope 5 years from now we aren't talking about how they could have been a legit contender if they only had the pitching.
  2. I understand how important a pinky promise or honest negotiations would be to a guy like Cohen who as a paragon of virtue has been been charged with insider trading, investigated by the SEC which led to him not being able to manage money for a few years and was involved in the gamestop short squeeze.
  3. So the mets who traded Matz last off season feel wronged that he didn't sign with them this off season? Makes sense.
  4. Exponential funding…sounds like the ground work for new taxes via a security fee that shows up on a receipt. If they just started dropping the hammer on thieving pieces of shit and held people accountable the problem would fix itself.
  5. NBA Social Justice Coalition...LOL. The NBA has plenty to say in the US but they suddenly don't have an opinion when it comes to other countries they do business in that are known for human rights violations, making people they don't like disappear and so on. Convenient how they choose to selectively apply what they believe in when it comes to their bottom line.
  6. Tennessee, Buffalo and GB coming into today were the 1, 2 and 1 seeds in their conferences and all lost. Arizona (playing without Murray again) winning today would make them the 1 seed. If the Rams can win next week and Arizona loses this week with a bye next week they'd have the same record with Arizona holding the tie breaker while they play again on December 13th. If Dallas beats KC today and Arizona loses then Dallas is the 1 seed in the NFC. With Buffalo losing today NE is now in first in the AFC east. Nice to see things this wide open over halfway through the season.
  7. Speaking of CalPERS https://www.marketwatch.com/story/americas-biggest-pension-fund-calpers-votes-to-reshuffle-allocations-add-leverage-in-bid-to-combat-low-returns-11637256386?siteid=yhoof2 Fear not though, when they under perform return expectations they'll go after taxpayers for the shortfall.
  8. I would be fine with the Angels taking a chance on him or Thor but not both given their pitching needs. Hopefully Verlander shits the bed for Houston in 2022.
  9. I was gonna joke that Ervin Santana contacting people on social media is the new Nigerian prince scam but I like your MLM approach better.
  10. If it wasn't for his history with the club would you be advocating for signing him? I'm guessing no. I agree with Erstad Grit that Santana was underappreciated by Angels fans but there's got to be better ways to spend even the league minimum.

  12. Rebuild? The Rams don't have a first round pick until 2024. Their window to win with core guys like Stafford, Donald, Ramsey, Woods, Floyd, Kupp, and Whitworth is over the next 2-3 years. Stafford is signed through next season, Donald through 2024, Ramsey through 2025, Woods through 2025, Floyd through 2024, Kupp through 2023 and Whitworth through 2022. Obviously in the NFL contracts aren't fully guaranteed but teams have to deal with dead cap hits so simply cutting unproductive players or guys that don't fit into long term plans still has financial consequences. Right now they have over $200M in salary committed to the 2022 roster so they're going to have to get creative and/or restructure some deals. If Akers makes a full recover they have him through 2023 while they can address areas of need like the O Line through the draft assuming they find good value without any first round picks for a few years. In the NFL there's usually a pretty small window for most teams and never say never but the Rams rebuild when it happens could be a true rebuild that takes a few years if things go right.
  13. I didn't catch the entire game but from what I did see the early TO's obviously didn't help, the Rams D let San Fran march 90+ yards on two early drives to score, the WR's had some dropped passes and McVay always tries to do trick plays that don't seem to work out enough for him to keep doing them. In the 4th quarter the game was well out of hand but it was 4th and goal from the 11 and Stafford air mailed it out of the end zone. If you're going for it on that play you might as well force it instead and give your receiver a chance because if it gets picked off they get it at the 20 instead of the 11 yard line. Good time for a bye week for the the Rams after getting dominated the last two weeks.
  14. They'd be crazy not to with the mentality of the current administration and situation at the border. Perfect time to push their problems off on someone else.
  15. On the plus side the Angels got someone who was apparently one of their top SP targets and they got him early in the FA process.
  16. It's only one year so it's good in that sense but it's a lot of money in that one year to a guy who has a lot to prove. I hope he pitches lights out to earn his next contract and that benefits the Angels this upcoming season.
  17. Huge loss for a team that's all in this year. Higbee, Jefferson, OBJ or someone else will need to step up big time as opposing teams will focus even more on Kupp going forward. They would benefit from establishing the run more to open things up for the passing game.
  18. If the elections were right now I think the R's would have a good chance to flip enough seats to take both the senate and the house. That said never discount the ability of either party to say or do dumb shit that costs them seats particularly the R's. Maybe 6 or 8 years ago the R's were in a great position to take some seats and shortly before the election a few said some really dumb things in regards to rape and abortion that cost them. Also can't discount Trumpism and how that plays out. I know he has his supporters and some red areas don't care but the longer the R's let him hang around like the dingle berry that he is the more it will cost them as a party. At the same time though I don't think a lot of D's are really excited about the president or vice president nor does either appeal much to people who voted against Trump in 2020. Neither party really has much to brag about right now which is why they'll stick to pointing out how the other side has failed. I don't know who will come away the winners in 2022 but you can bet that the country will lose.
  19. I'd bet that a small percentage of posters have reported anything to a moderator and that 90%+ of reporting has come from the same few posters.
  20. I'm fine when neither side can simply push something through so if it has to be that or gridlock I'll take the latter since our elected officials can't work together. https://www.yahoo.com/news/cop26-looking-historic-failure-worlds-142820014.html As numerous people on here have said unless China and the rest of the world gets on board the climate change issue is kind of moot. I think we should and absolutely could do more to reduce the strain we put on the environment but if it doesn't happen at a global level then it's not going to have the desired effect.

A loaded gun was also found in Ruggs' car, Bauman said."
