  1. we signed a cuban ? that came out of no where. About time we did something in the international market. Still theres basically no info on the guy. Baldoquin is the name I believe.
  2. i have no ill will for Joe Madden, in fact now that he's with an NL team I wish him good luck. That being said, I always find it amazing how people place so much weight in results based on managers. Despite word on the street, Joe Madden is not some baseball wizard that will make the Cubs stop being the Cubs. The Cubs still posses a bunch of prospects and thats it (no pitching). As we all know, prospects are notoriously prone to big league failure. Madden is obviously a good baseball guy but he's not like some final puzzle piece. The team has a lot to prove. Oh and it is shitty how it went down for Renteria.
  3. I'd be happy if we could pull down Chase Headley. Guy is a good player. Also would anyone be interested in bringing Ervin back ? I would. I think we probably stay away from the big name guys.
  4. Jews do consider themselves a distinct race. Just in case that was not clear to some of you.
  5. so ? everyone who has any value ... lol. and im not a huge aybar guy either.
  6. I think the problem here is that Hamilton is already at this stage with the fans. We have 3 more years of this garbage to look forward to most likely. He has shown nothing to indicate otherwise. The thing with Hamilton is that he looks like the worst player in the league sometimes. Who knows whats really going on with him, its pretty remarkable how bad a turn he's taken in terms of performance. I think in the last 10 years the only real comparisons are GMJ and of course Vernon Wells. Probably more Vernon Wells since he was suppose to fill the same roll. I know people complained about some of the other names mentioned here (Anderson, Guillen, etc,) but those guys really dont come close. I actually really dont understand the Anderson haters. He dogged plays but he was an awesome player and he definitely showed up when it counted in 2002.
  7. wuts this ? a reasonable response ? Bravo sir.
  8. why you gotta talk shit on my Corolla bro ? It gets good gas mileage. Sheesh
  9. Trust me, Im crushed by how this has gone. But I know for myself, my expectations were pretty tempered coming into this season. The team surpassed my expectations wildly. The team also overcame some legit adversity to achieve the best record in baseball. This is terribly disappointing, but after catching my breath and letting myself reflect on the season, I can in all honestly say that this was a good season. Im hoping that we can acquire some help in the rotation to get excited for next season. I think we can also be happy that we have caught something of a break with the discovery of Matt Shoemaker. He seems to be a more then solid mid rotation guy. We'll be back next season. Go Angels.
  10. The happenings of this series are completely un-related to prior playoff failures. Its hard to win, and the Royals have been extremely good in this series. Shitty break for us, but it is what it is. I really don't understand the arguments that this would have gone down differently with a different manager. The Royals have executed no less then 6 incredible run stealng plays in this series that have literally won the games for them. They have also gotten their hits in fortuitous situations. We have failed at an almost unbelievable rate in comparison. To blame Scoscia for that is just to do so for the sake of doing it. It always convenient to just blame the manager. Do i agree with all the decisions he makes, absolutely not. That said, he did an incredible job handling a team with a whole lot of adversity down the stretch. This team could have easily collapsed with Richards going down, they did not and he deserves credit for that. He really did a great job managing the pitchers. I can't emphasis that enough. I might be a moron, but I have complete confidence that Mike Scoscia is still a championship caliber manager.
  11. I have two more cents to toss into this. I'm just sick of hearing about Josh Hamilton. Now this guy says he's gonna be sore tomorrow and has a headache ? Bro is a professional athlete that has not done shit for the last 3 weeks. He runs down two fly balls in left field, one of which he dogged the play and cost us a run (I dont care what Mark Langston says about the play) and after that "exertion" he's gonna be sore. Maybe he should find a new line of work in a call center or something. God knows he didn't get sore running the base paths tonight. Im really just sick of the guy and don't want to hear about him until he finally does something that resembles justification for his massive contract. Josh Hamilton, You ****ing suck.
  12. Im usually not in the Scioscia hate camp but tonight I think he made several pretty terrible decisions. I was at the game and to be clear the game was lost because of A: two absolutely remarkable plays in the field. KC got it done in that regard and robbed us of game winning runs. In that case the tip of the cap is appropriate. B: Our middle of the order bats absolutely shit the bed today. Terrible AB"s, just terrible, they did not show up today. I think at one point I was pretty upset because it was the 4th or 5th inning and Vargas had not yet thrown his 40th pitch, while Weaver seemed to be battling every KC batter to a full count. KC is not a dangerous offensive team, but they grinded out AB's tonight. Anyway they have to show up and play a different game tomorrow or we are ****ed. We have seen these hapless batting funks from this team during several stretches this season and we simply cant have it right now obviously. Anyway, back to the skipper, the sac bunt is statistically almost always a shitty idea. We did it 3 times today with good hitters at the plate. The Kole Calhoun one was especially awful, very disappointed in that. I also was not happy to see Salas come out before Grilli or Morin. Salas has not looked that great for the last month. I dont understand why he was run out there first. Anyway, those are my two cents. Pretty disappointing night.
  13. Some cool synchronized flag waving there. Well Done A's fans.
  14. http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/09/the-barbarians-within-our-gates-111116.html#.VCDv0StdVUs Thoughts ? I think the authors assessment is tragically accurate.
  15. when things are generally going so well, its pretty easy to get worried about different parts of the team I think. Im terrified that the offense is going to fizzle out. The bullpen stuff as well. Like some others have said, lots of work those arms in the pen have gotten. Really concerned about Shoemaker also.
  16. i lolz at the idea that luck has any significant power in a 162 game season. Over that many games, things settle exactly as they should. The stat heads and their notions have value, but they can also figure out a way to be contrarian in any situation. All teams need breaks here and there, I would argue that Oakland has got plenty of breaks squeezing every ounce of productivity out of a multitude of mediocre players over the past 2 and half years. Congrats to them for making it happen, but if we're lucky, they sure as shit are as well.
  17. haha, I would argue that he has not had any of that mojo for 2.5 years...technically.
  18. I just find it amazing how much better we've been without him. When we signed him, who thought it was possible that it would go this badly, seriously. The Hamilton signing has been an unmitigated disaster of the Gary Mathews Jr. order( even worse) i mean at this point in October, even if he is healthy, do we start him ? I seriously have my doubts. Cowgill has been much much better. The other side of this of course is that Howie will not keep up his current rampage and that has been a big part of this current run explosion.
  19. I don't pretend to have great knowledge of the situation, but from what I know of it, Scotland is much like any other part of the UK, just full of Scot's(see wut i did there ). They don't seem to be on the short end of any sticks in Scotland. It seems reasonable to assume that these small nations are stronger together. They have been that way culturally and politically for more then 300 years. Does Scotland really stand to gain that much by breaking away from the UK. Does not seem so to me. What do I know though.
  20. yea, its wild that we have seemingly been better off with Cowgill in a Hamilton out.
