  1. the issue is consistency with the bats, even last year it was a problem. Its cause we have guys like Aybar and Freese up and down the line up. Super hot or worthless.
  2. I suppose you are both right. It just popped into my head because it was about stirring up irrational fear.
  3. http://bridge.georgetown.edu/new-poll-on-american-muslims-is-grounded-in-bias-riddled-with-flaws/ Pretty good article here about a poll i first heard about on the O'Reilly factor. Basically the findings of the "poll" make it seem like Muslims, even here in the US are so beholden to Shariah law that a worrisome number of them could be disloyal to America. It also suggests that perhaps, the Muslim brotherhood exists here. Anyway, surprise ! it turns out the poll is bullshit from some guy thats a known Islamaphobic fear monger. Like I said though pretty interesting on the whole.
  4. this is the key, plus he's finally been able to have a normal offseason and be healthy at the same time. Really only his second year with us was horrible because of the plantar facitis(2013 was disaster in general for the Angels). He's been good, albeit not incredible in general with us. I think what really stands out in a negative way are the prolonged slumps he's had with us. Probably makes people think of his overall preformance in a more negative light then they should. This year he's been great though. Hopefully we can see him get the BA up into the .270, .280 range. He can still do it.
  5. I cannot express how much I despise Peter Gammons. He's a Redsox schill masquerading as a baseball insider. Again with a the unnamed sources. Then like u guys say he somehow manages to talk about the Redsox like they're some model for baseball virtue. Aren't they the ones that ran Terry Francona of the 3 World Series out of town when their front office went public with all their internal feuding ? The red sox who fielded a team literally nick named the "idiots". **ck Peter Gammons and his sources. Plus he's mocking the team with the OC Angels bit. God I hate that guy. ( he even talks shit on hockey) dude needs to stick to his geriatric rock bands.
  6. Doubts based on what tho ? Why are you so cynical ? you are basically just imagining that he doesn't care because...you don't want to give him the benefit of the doubt ? I mean to each their own opinion but i think most of the evidence suggest he cares a lot. This is Arte's ball club, not yours. He has every right to dictate to his GM what he wants to happen. Your pissed because what he wants was signing a couple of big time players ? and you assume the GM didn't want any part of it. Damn, what a horrible problem to have !!)7 Again, just imagining stuff to fit the "Arte sucks" narrative you keep preaching.
  7. Absolutely agree SOTO. The season is just about to the half way point and we are right in the mix. Great opportunity to win the division. Club will get past all this non sense.
  8. I dont know how any angel fan could seriously think "man, i sure wish we could go back to the Disney days. Arte Moreno is so awful" the idea is just incredible. Arte is financially and personally invested in his team. He wants to win more badly then any of you. Have no doubt of that. The man has literally sunk hundreds of millions of dollars into the the team. The fact that he's done good work in more than quadrupling the value of the team; should prove his dedication. Seemingly to some of you it proves that he's greedy or something. The pujols and hamilton signings, are just more evidence of his dedication to making the Angels a winner. Id rather have an owner willing to splash and fail then some corporation issuing hard budgets that will never ever make the off-season exciting. Its crazy to me that some of you actually hold it against him that he made these moves. Its fine to be critical of the wisdom of the moves, but to me at least you fans should be grateful that the owner is willing to bring the biggest name players to help us win. Just lame that people want to figure ouy ways to imagine him having a nefarious agenda. Arte has had a rough year but im very happy he's the owner. I think a guy like arte will always be committed to winning, and when he's not anymore im sure he will sell and move on.
  9. if he goes in as a manager, he has to go in as an Angel. One would think anyway.
  10. steve phillips...only if he does pretend pressers for us. seriously tho, Ive only been around this board since last season so, some of you probably arent familiar with my opinions on the team. Those that are would probably place me in the "nutswinger" category. I think Arte is the best thing that ever happened to this franchise, and I mean that seriousy. He completely changed everything about the Angels. I think Scioscia is a close 2nd (Trout is climbing up that ladder rapidly) anyway. What would I like to see out of the next GM. Well, I dont know names that well but in terms of philosophy I think someone who makes good use of analytics is very important. I would also love to see someone who will actually take the international market seriously. That is one area where the Angels are horrendous. I'd also like to see someone who will continue to place a very high premium on pitching depth. One thing with JeDi was that I believe he was a great pitching guy. Hopefully we can find someone with acuman similar in that regard. FInally, while I wasnt that fired up about taking taylor ward with our first pick in this last draft, I do think the strategy of collecting bats is the right one for the organization right now. I hope to see another bat heavy draft next year.
  11. Henry and Susan Samueli are high energy owners ? Lol, I love the Ducks and I think they are fine owners but they are not what I would characterize as "high energy". Also, I would have great doubts about the funds they would provide this team. The Ducks are like 100k over the cap FLOOR. That may not entirely be their doing, but they don't exactly have an open check book. They sprang to pay Scott Niedermeyer and Chris Pronger years ago. We shall see if they are willing to pay the bill to keep Ryan Kesler. Alright, back to baseball.
  12. I liked JeDi a lot and I appreciate the direction he pointed the Angels, its unfortunate that he's moved on. I do agree that its not his best look to resign mid season like this. That said, as DiPoto said, he has to do whats right for himself and his family. If this is it, so be it. The whole situation is an unfortunate mess and I hope we one day get more details from Jerry about what really went down.
  13. great post, I think people are really getting carried away with the Jerry DiPoto victim narrative. Im sure its not all his fault, but I also think Scosiscia really getting a raw deal here. The truth is almost always somewhere in between two stories. The way that Scosicia is being portrayed just makes for a juicier story and it feeds perfectly in the Sosh hate club narrative. Jerry DiPoto is a big boy, I do not believe that he would let Mike Scosicia run him out of his job as a MLB general manager. I just dont believe he's that weak of a dude. I also dont think Scosicia is liar, they made it work for almost 4 years. Now in the middle of the season over a contentious meeting, thats the last straw. I just dont buy it. I think Hector Santiago's comments are telling This is more complicated then its being made out to be, and it may well have a lot more to do with Arte then Scosicia.
  14. all these "sources" with their stories. The article is incredibly one sided.
  15. http://news.yahoo.com/soldiers-heroics-lift-gloom-afghans-tired-taliban-attacks-155757104.html This dude dropped 6 Taliban trying to storm the in session parliament (some good shooting and a bit of courage apparently) For this is now an uber hero. The best is his quote. -Khan himself said he was not afraid. (about the taliban coming after him) "A male sheep is for sacrifice. I have sworn to God I will keep my head high and fight. I will sacrifice my life for this country." -Essa Khan LOL, good thing he has really high self worth.
  16. I don't think the season is a lost cause, we just need another at least useful bat. No one is running away with the division.
  17. Dave, how can we figure out when Newcomb and is pitching?? I'd love to be able to go see him with the 66'rs but am having trouble figuring out who's pitching.
  18. Hopefully this bodes well for us as we go deeper into the contract. He's been awesome.
